I moved in with my gf of over a year in November. She was only paying 300 a month for room and board, but her sister was visiting her for 8 months and she was paying 450 a month. Now that we are moved in together, she pays 467 a month(half the rent). I pay for most of the food. She got a cell phone shared on my plan for 50$ a month when her old plan was costing 40-80 a month and she got a new phone out of it. Since she moved in she doesn't talk to any of her old room mates and most of the time is only myself and work. So she wants to cancel it which is going to cost 550$ on a year you plan with 1.5 years left. Our other utilities cost about 300$ together and I was getting her to pay half with myself. This totals about half of her pay, where it only costs me 1/4 of my pay. She is upset that its costing her so much compared to living in a room in a house with 8 other people instead of us two together. I looked at other places that were cheaper and they were shut four plexe or small apartment and I would have to rent a storage unit that would bring it to the same price as our 3 bedroom duplex with a yard and big storage shed.

Who should a guy deal with this? Should I just pay the utilities, part of them, or make her pay the full half and tell her that we need to split it evenly. We are not married but have been talking about getting engaged, but I don't see it happening if she is going to act like this. She was talking about moving out back into a cheap place so she can save more money, but if she were to do this it would end our relationship.

This whole issue came up after I called her out on pushing me away most of the time I have tried to touch her the past couple months. It hadn't been a problem before she moved in, but it has been getting worse. She has also stopped wanting to do things with me such as,

  • swimming( I had been teaching her),

  • skiing ( I took her for lessons once and she enjoyed it, and I bought her a ski jacket for Christmas)

  • bowling ( she has gone a few times but the ten pin balls are too heavy since she is 4'11\", but I tried to take her to 5 pin but she has zero interest)

  • archery ( I tried to take her to try out archery at an indoor range and she seemed for it, but then decided she wasn't interested the day it came to go)

  • going out to the movies ( I am a big movie buff and like to go at least once a week if their is anything I want to see. I'd much rather see it in theater than at home.)

She is originally from India and has lived in the philippines since she was 7 and has been in Canada the past 3 years. I make 65-80g a year and like to go out and enjoy life instead of just sitting at home every day. I do enjoy video games and watching movies at home, but that's for work nights not days off. She only makes about 28g a year and I half think it's big shock for her to see how much money I spend compared to how she grew up.

She has also been sleeping a lot too. Like 10-12 hours a lot of the time. Which tells me she is kind of depressed, but who wouldn't be if all you do is work, watch tv, and sleep.

Does anyone have any input on this?
