I've been to a long meeting which at its end I lectured for a short time (several minutes). The room is full with many colleagues.

I had to fill in much detail in short amount of time, so I misspoke and inadvertently used a "big word" 3 times (too much).By "big word" I mean to a word which isn't sufficiently meaningful to the discussion but slightly "sounds good" (to some people).

Then, 14 feet from my posture direction, I noticed a senior guy (call him "John") whispers in the ear of adjacent guy ("Mark") about something and I heard the "big word".Probably a small group of colleagues near them heard it better than I did, though I'm sure that was some disrespectful comment.

I ignored and kept lecturing until done.

Proper handling of this shit test?

Edit:

I know that "big words" shouldn't be used - this isn't how I talk normally.
It's just that in that particular scenario I was trying to convey an idea and I had little time to do it so I got somewhat stressed out and it affected my thinking and consequently my words.
That "big word" isn't really fancy, it's just partially incompatible with the discussion when saying it 3 times.
Saying the "big word" once wouldn't have made an issue and wouldn't have sound bad IMO.
