I'm new to RP so bear with me please. I was thinking about a situation where my environment seems to provide an opportunity to create your own shit test.

The situation I'm thinking about is when you're with a woman (LTR for me) buying something and a cashier asks you for personal information during a purchase, and they phrase it in a way that "no" is not a natural answer. For example, a cashier might say "And I just need your phone number" or some similar BS line to make you feel like you're obligated to provide them with a piece of personal information. The stores use this stuff for obvious reasons, tracking customers, making targeted ads, etc... If it was phrased as a question (e.g. "May I have your zip code please?") it's not really a shit test or has no potential to become one because "no" is a perfectly acceptable response. But, when they phrase it in such a way that "no" is an awkward response (e.g. "And your email address is...?") it seems to become a shit test (or you can turn it into one). The cashier is trying to out maneuver you into giving your personal info, and you're resisting. The catch is that "no" isn't a syntactically correct response to the request. If you say something like, "I'm not comfortable in giving out my email address" it doesn't work. Not only does the "no" interrupt the flow of the interaction and create an awkward situation (just bear with it in silence) it also doesn't attempt to explain your motivations.

Cashier: And I just need your date of birth to complete the transaction.

Me: No.

[crickets chirping]

I've always done this; not for these reasons, just because I hate getting junk mail and telemarketers calling my house. But my LTR always gets giddy when it happens. If she's in the same situation, she always consents to give them what they want (but she usually gives them the wrong info) so she seems to view it as manly that I'm willing to "stand up to the store clerk." (lol...) The thing that interests me about this situation is that you're essentially choosing to create an external shit test. If I choose to give them my info, it just looks like a normal transaction and there's no passing or failing of a shit test. But if I refuse, it creates a shit test and I automatically pass (assuming that's the end of it).

A minor variation is when she is the one buying something and the cashier asks her for personal info. I sometimes step in and refuse for her, before she can give away her information.

I guess my questions are:

  • is this really akin to a shit test or am I just making shit up?
  • What are other ways to intentionally create a situation that allows you to demonstrate your "frame?"

Edit: To clarify, the cashier isn't "shit testing" me. He's probing me (at the behest of his employer) to see if I would rather give up some personal information than create a (very) mildly confrontational situation. To me it seems like a way to demonstrate a IDGAF attitude, even though it's about something unrelated to sex/relationships. This is just one silly example. In general though, I find that my LTR loves it when I shirk some social norm or "break the rules" in a way that another person would want to, but be too afraid or concerned about what other think. Of course you run the risk of looking like a cunt and it really depends on the girl so you have to pick your battles carefully with this one. I think that while all women may think about courtship in similar terms, they differ more heavily on how they view this type of behavior.
