It is sad how "willing to commit" is simply a camouflaged transmogrification of the word "marriage" for many women. Just say it already, 'willing to commit' means that you want him to enter into a legally binding agreement with you and the government that allows you the legal right to take over half of his assets, his kids, and his future income if for some reason you are no longer haappppyy.

I've known several men, including myself, who were fully committed at one time to sharing a lifetime of commitment with a particular woman, sans the marriage certificate. Only then to hear later that I was "scared of commitment". I not only told them of my commitment, but expressed it through my daily actions and long-term plans. The only reason they decided I was not, was that I refused to sign the Unhappiness Insurance Policy that would put them in the power position. Sadly, they are fooling no one but themselves when they say "commitment" is all that they seek, they really want a one-way insurance policy that only benefits one party upon maturation.

Or be single, and cross the finish line ahead of everyone else.

Everyone ends up single sooner or later, divorce, widowed, dying alone, whatever.

Might as well race to the finish line years early while you can enjoy it and not be a bitter beer baby.
