Everyone kind of has their own definition of what membership is. I have a shitload of subs I'm subscribed to in which I either don't post or most of the time don't even read, but I like to keep a vague idea what's going on. /Jeeps is one where I post now and then, but mostly just keep an eye on it in case someone has a Jeep problem I understand and can help them with. Same with /Kindle
For here, I consider you a member of this sub if you post comments or original content frequently (3+ times a week) and definitely if you've earned flair, as we mods only give that out when it's earned.
This is actually a very good question because, as you are probably aware, we will bust your balls if you brigade or harass an OP in another subreddit. If we repost something from that shitshow /DatingOverThirty and you go there and find the original post and start harassing the original poster, for all that their mods are a bunch of bitches who don't extend us the same courtesy, we'll ban your ass in a heartbeat over here.
But, what if you're a regular member over at /DoT? This is where things get kind of fuzzy. In cases like that we request that you remember that you are an ambassador for this subreddit and approach the OPs from a position of kindness. You can give them advice that aligns with our philosophy (which will probably get you kicked out of /DoT because they can't handle the truth), but as long as you are respectful to both the OP and the rules of their subreddit, we won't ban you for an honest conversation there. (Although it's not a bad idea to send us modmail and let us know that you are a regular poster there and are engaged in a conversation that popped up here. We do perform random checks to make sure our members are not trolling other subreddits.)
