Man, Singapore would be a hard setting for dating. Possibly not the most materialistic women on earth (Shanghai?), but almost. Unstated demand - "must have a car". Which only about 15% of adults on the island can ever have (due to government caps). Long working hours. Weak nightlife. Tons of bored ang-mo banker dick. And college-educated SG women have settled on an androgynous sporty-lesbian vibe (the difference, even just across the bridge, is appreciable).

On the other side, if a guy really wants a gal, he can bring one in from Vietnam/Thailand/China. Who might appreciate an IT nerd and 1-bed HDB. Easier really, but he really doesn't have the time for that either.
