Summary: "You're all fuckin' pussy whipped"

I've browsed this sub for a couple years, though I've been lucky enough to have a father and grandfather that are what you would call "alpha" in a very real sense. I'm talking making millions from literally nothing, multiple homes, successful marriages, top of the social heirarchy, doing what they want when they want, country clubs, etc. A lot of people here seem to have a misconception about the kind of guy you have to be to reach your goals. Lifting weights, hitting on girls, and playing text games with tinder bitches is not "alpha" and ain't shit on what men used to have to be to really make it in the world. That said, largely this sub gets it right in terms of cultivating the right attitude to be truly free. I'm here to add to that discussion and provide a glimpse into the life of my grandpa. This guy is a piece of work...does not back down, gives zero fucks about the rules, and lives as he damn well pleases. This is probably going to sound fake to many of you, because many of you have no fucking clue how the world used to be before the Internet, cell phones, video games, HR departments, and school counselors.

Just to give you an idea of what kind of man my grandfather is, here's a bulleted summary of some of his exploits:

• Did not finish high school

• First job was delivering milk around the age of 10-12. After the Navy, made a living selling products (keeping things vague here) to department stores around the country. For a 4-5 year period in the 60s after the company he worked for went under, made a living as a card hustler and lived at a country club.

• Served on a battleship in the Pacific Ocean theater during World War 2, saw action against the Japanese including Kamikaze attacks

• Lost his left eye getting hit across the face with a broken bottle during a barfight in the 60s (has since worn an eyepatch).

• Has traveled around the world multiple times, including remote areas in Papau New Guinea and Borneo, where he and my grandmother found themselves on a ship going down a river between warring cannibalistic tribes, the boat getting hit with spears and arrows. This happened in the late 80s when they were in their 60s.

• Up until the day he lost his job as a traveling salesman, he refused to buy a house for my grandmother which she had always wanted (they lived in a small apartment). That same day, he joined an exclusive country club and bought a giant house on the grounds. He told my grandmother, "If we're going to the shithouse, we're going to do it in style"

• In those days, an acceptable sales tactic was buying drinks and getting wasted with a buyer until you got an order, which my grandpa was an expert in (like many people in those days, he was an alcoholic. He no longer drinks, however)

• An acquaintance was complaining about one of their suppliers being consistently late on shipments of a certain chemical product. My grandfather convinced him he was the answer to all of his problems. My grandfather had absolutely nothing and no knowledge of chemistry whatsoever, but he hired a chemist and within the week, the chemist, my grandfather, and my grandmother were making the first batch of product in the bathtub.

• This was the start of what became a successful business which my father expanded on and runs to this day.

To give you an idea how successful the business is, it is almost gauranteed you have used one of their products, although packaged under different brands/labels. Both my father and grandfather can buy basically whatever they want at the drop of a hat, including half a million dollar cars and last minute trips around the world. Personally, I'm working my way up to their level and while they've definitely given me a leg up, they firmly believe in making yourself as a man, so it's up to me to become successful on my own.

Here are some choice quotes from my grandfather:

• "Let me tell you, everyone today is trying to get something for nothing. The entitlement is astounding. I'm one of them old school, boy. We worked for a living, we made our bones and didn't ask nobody for permission."
• "We'd have last minute parties until 3, 4 o'clock in the morning at the club, drinking and playing cards all night. You guys these days are all fuckin' pussy whipped, going home to your girlfriends at 11 when they call you home. If your grandmother called the club, they'd tell her, '(Grandpa's name) told me to tell you he wasn't here'".
• From my grandma: "My mother offered to buy me a brand new car if I didn't marry your grandfather. Look at us now, I think I was pretty smart. I knew how to pick 'em"

Lessons learned: I don't have a concise "lessons learned". Not everyone has the stones to be the kind of guy to truly live free. Especially these days when our society teaches us to be obedient drones. Start rocking the boat, take what you want, make moves, don't give a fuck what anyone thinks. You have one shot at being alive, you can't take any of this shit with you. If you're the kind of guy that isn't happy 'in the matrix', being free comes at a price. But it is well worth it.
