Some of this made sense in the "old days" when you'd have at least some familiarity with the person you were going to be going on a date with. With OLD, if a first date is anything more than a meetup to see just how far the profile deviates from reality you're spending too much time and money, regardless of gender. Keep it simple, stupid. Drinks or coffee, see if you can stand one another, and go from there.

If she thinks she needs $400 of clothing and refurbishment to meet a rando off the Internet, she can consider it an investment. Not the app's fault if she doesn't get a ROI. Spend less on clothing and more time practicing not acting like a psycho and you just might get that second date Cupcake.

Do you have to have a date at a place where you are going to need to spend money on food and drinks, especially alcoholic drinks?

Those "couple of drinks" can be very costly depending on where you go. Maybe try not going somewhere where you will be consuming alcohol? Or are you unable to process things well without alcohol?

"If you're going out that extra day each week it can add up because of all the costs that go with it," she says. "You've got Ubers and if you're paying for dinner or you're buying some drinks, it can add up."

Again, maybe express some creativity with date ideas that are not go and pay for a bunch of expenses. I would hazard to guess that most guys are not going to be against alternative types of dates where they have to spend a ton of money either. Most cases, the only reason the guy is spending that kind of money on dates is to meet the woman. He would be much happier not having to spend that kind of money just to do that.

I don't know what kind of woman Ashley is exactly, but going on 25 dates (I am assuming a different guy each) tells me that if she is not getting a lot of interest for a second date, she is not offering much in the way of being a good partner. Perhaps it's not the expense of the dating experience that she needs to be concerned with, but rather how she approaches it and presents herself.
