Ffs, a 17 year old and a 21 year old have the same age gap as a freshman and senior in high school. People are ridiculous.

My dad started dating my mom when she was 16 and he was 24. It feels wrong to me the older I get but 16 is our age of consent here and my parents worked together so it makes sense. I don't think anyone should have their life destroyed over something that was seen as okay as the time. And there's so much more nuance than one person being over 18 and one being under. You don't magically change the moment you wake up 18.
