I work with kids and believe me - that Prince charming trope has been obliterated.

Books aimed at girls almost always have a strong female protagonist and Disney hasn't used that trip since the 90s. I think perhaps Pocahontas was the last film ?

The Manic Pixie Dreamgirl trope doesn't anger women because it caters to male desires. Women love catering to male desires.
