Coming from alcoholism, 5 years sober. Past drug use too. Went through court system ect.

Flipping perception is huge. Going from "I cant", I cant drink to I CHOOSE not too. Is a major step. Your mind has a perception habit when viewing things. If you cant change that into an aversion, you'll struggle.

Second, detoxing and healing my body was 2nd. Through research, fasting, changing my diet and understanding what organs in the body effect mindshare, emotions ect...I've effectively reduced cravings, symptoms and bad behaviors. Check out snake diet for general fasting and Jason fung.

Weak Adrenal glands can cause nervous system issues like fatigue, edginess, neurotic tendencies, anxiety ect which can cause ppl to chase highs or numb excessive feelings/thoughts. Parathyroid weakness causes depression. Liver issues can cause excess anger, holding negativity. Check out dr. Morse to learn about detoxing the body

Also environment, you cant stay in the same situation you were using in and expect to stay sober. If nothing changes, then how can anything change?

Remember, it's not worth it...life does get better. Problems are temporary and it takes steady, consistent positive action to build a new lifestyle. I never thought I'd be 5 years clean when I first started getting sober at 30...I'll be 36 this year and life is pretty good.

I have a long story of alcohol abuse, including hospitalization in 2009.

I had a relapse yesterday, after two weeks without whisky and one night trembling due to abstinence. Bought some vodka, as it is cheap and can be mixed with water. So far I finished the third dose (of vodka with water) today, going for the fourth.

Been trying to kick my caffeine habit. Currently almost two weeks in and it's fucking HARD. Used to party a lot during my early 20s and nothing compares to the withdrawal of caffeine.

My body aches terribly and my mind goes numb sometimes. However, the benefits are already showing as I wake up/sleep easier, have more energy, and feel better about myself in general. Plus, the small savings on my bank account doesn't hurt either :-)

Good luck... it's not easy. My addiction is weed so luckily I won't lose my job or some crazy shit, but dealing with depression can be tough.

I know what you mean. I was addict. The last time I touched a substance was 2.5 years ago. I had to take time off and deal with it head on with professionals. It's a struggle, even over 2 years later, but it gets easier. I had to hit rock bottom before I was convinced I had a serious problem that needed to be addressed. I am very glad I did and I hope you find your path out of addiction, brother.

Battled it for 12 yrs. Each time you quit you get better at it. Dont beat urself up about it...re evaluate your aquaintances...
