Is there any benefit to stay in touch with your mother? Isn't she just draining you of your energy 24/7?

I take care of mine, she has ALS. I don't like the rest of the fam really very much. I love my mom though and she really gets me, like talking to a friend moreso than a mom a lot. Probably because I'm 30 now too. I wouldn't have anyone to talk to without her, glad I have her. Theres few good people in life, stick with them if you find one.

Depends on your relationship with your mom and how good a mother she was, while my mom can be irritating and show signs of AWALTisme, she does alot for me still, so I put up with her negative qualities because she is my mom and because she isn't a bad mom to me

But if your mom is a bad mother (never cared for you when your where little and only demands things/money off of you), you need to cut her out of your life

I cut my mother out of my life and it was the best thing I ever did. I never think about her at all, and I am so much happier now that she's a forgotten memory in the rearview mirror.

I dont think so. Being your mother does not mean she is draining your energy 24/7. But considering her as some "special woman" just because she gave birth to you, is stupid.

staying in touch with your mother is fine, as long as she is not an annoying bitch who tries to drive you the way she wants you to go or changes her behavioral patterns and you put up with it because she has a good side. That's coping, and you should not do that with any woman, even if she is your mother.

But overinvesting in women (any women, be it a girl you are in a relationship with, or your mom) is always bad and does not work in the man's favour. This is a fact. Dont overinvest in her and do not let the relationship with her to define her behavior and nature for you. Don't be too much in touch with her , because that never works on your favour. A guy that does not seek LTR/marriage but ends up overinvesting/being too much in touch with mommy only replaces the wife need with the mother. And trust me when I say this, the Male Mother Need is dangerous.

A lot of dudes on this sub do this same mistake : they think a woman being the mother somehow absolves her of the basic female behavior/instincts that all women have inside.

Sure, love her as a mom, no one is stopping you. But analyze her, judge her, and behave towards her indifferently and just like all relationships, always be ready to walk out of the relationship if she does anything out of place. Don't ignore her negative side just because she is your mother or just because she took care of you in the past.

Be indifferent towards her, be logical about her. Think of her as a woman first and a mother second, just like any and all relationships with women. You will be fine.

Don't put yourself in a comfort zone just because she is your mother.

For those who are going to say "just bcoz you had a bad mother does not mean we all had that", I will just say this to the guy : being emotional about women never helped any man throughout history. If the man is a redpilled man who is logical but are letting his emotions take over him when I insert the word "mother", then the man needs to work on himself.

It's definitely a double-edged sword. I love her, but it is unhealthy to have that be my closest relationship. But when she's gone, there will be nobody anymore. As for the past, she did wrong things, I did wrong things, we all did wrong things. God have mercy on us all.

I move a lot so I have my mail sent to my moms place. Gives me a reason to see her. She has always made fun of people (including my brother and I) in her life and gossiped a lot. She’s getting better now but our relationship can never be what she wanted it to be. She always took things too far when it came to the backhanded remarks. I was happy when she divorced my dad 15 or so years ago. I’m sure she can be a good friend to the right person but not a good wife and not even sure why she had kids. I think she wanted a daughter. Oh well 🤷‍♂️

Depends on how she treats you and how she did when you were younger, if she was a piece of shit and still is then I wouldn't, but if she's just mildly annoying i'd still help her out and contact her. I understand my mom is AWALT ( Had me out of wedlock and married my step dad who is pretty much beta bux), but she did a fine enough job raising me and she has enough good personality traits that I like her, so i'll help her into old age...

Yes and no. As others have said, it depends on the mom.

If you have a healthy relationship with your mom, and by healthy, I mean you do not have any destructive dependencies on her and she does not have any destructive dependencies on you, then its fine.

But, if your mom is committing emotional incest on you by treating you like the husband she wanted but never had instead of her son, making you feel bad if you don't do certain things or act a certain way, then no, there's no benefit in staying in touch with your mom.
