Life was much more enjoyable for myself when I had one of these instead of a smartphone. I only got a smartphone again because every time you're in a social situation like lunch people revert to going on their phone so you're just sat there like -_-

I would hate being surrounded by ppl like that.

It's only whilst I'm at college (about a quarter of the year). It does suck, none of them make real conversations. Can't beat em join em eh.

Just carry a backpack with a good book in it

He talks on a Nokia so she can talk on an iPhone.
This actually have reminds me of myself. My ex always had the lastest smartphone (while in debt of course) while I had to make do with a flip phone. I didn't get my first smartphone until three years after we broke up by which time my flip phone was seeing its last days. Now I'm on my second one after I accidentally spilled coffee on my first one and I discarded it after 4 years.

I only upgrade to the next version of an iPhone when my prior doesn’t turn on, I’ve had a iPhone 6 for 3 years, now I’m on a IPhone 6s Plus.
[–]ice_piercer9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I have iphone 6s for 5 years now, will change only after this one dies.
[–]jawz2you117 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Smart, besides they still get most of the updates so when it no longer supports it I’ll change it.
[–]ice_piercer6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
yes, don't be a monkey buying every new thing that comes out. Buy gold instead :)
[–]jawz2you112 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thank you for the advice, it will help a lot soon, also start buying cheap real estate in countries with mass disease rn. It’s super cheap, and easy to rent out.

Still using my 6, and my screen is entirely cracked to the point where the flashlight can't even turn on. Had this phone going on year 6. My decision not to upgrade didn't stem from an economic standpoint but rather the lack of features for the iPhone 7. Removal of the earphone jack and the glass screen was a major turn off for me.

I'm still using an iPhone 5s, I've fixed it 3 times now replacing batteries, camera, and the screen. Check out fixez.com
Then to see how to open and replace, check out some youtube vids like this guy https://www.youtube.com/user/JerryRigEverything/videos

[–]idkhehexd34203 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A relative of mine who is a successful businessman in addition to being the District manager of a mall chain in my country uses a cellphone like this as his primary device. Battery lasts forever and the calls are crisp. No bs social media or messenger distractions.
Unless this pick was taken as a gag the dude is probably well off and uses this phone quite well.

Battery lasts forever and the calls are crisp
THIS and THIS.
I've heard critics say that modern smart phones are good at everything except being a phone. I totally agree, the old cheap Nokia phones sounded great. And the battery lasted a week. It's funny today to see people struggling to find a power source twice a day.
[–]sebastian08010 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Or they carry a powerbank more then twice the size of the smartphone with them.

That Nokia phone is amazing. Great battery life, call quality, snake game. Can drop or use in a fight. Had many skins available back in the day. Dirt cheap, USD 10, and with 1 year warranty. Had one next to Samsung Galaxy and that Nokia has connection when my Samsung lost it in rural areas.

Lol about fighting with that brick. People forget or weren't around when phones were simple and did what they were made to do.
[–]Blissbynature6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She's got the 'privacy angle' on her phone. You know what that means.
[–]Ricksanchez22784 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
My ex wouldn't allow me to have a smartphone because she didn't want me to watch porn. I was such a simp. I sometimes think back to my blue pill days and almost wanna puke in my hat.
[–]Shittingburgers5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well yeah, I mean the phone will last longer than the relationship.
[–]GuitZz4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is the most secure phone on the planet unless you are spy or in gov :D -can't be hacked -can't be broken -can't install date apps XD
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'm not really sure the point of the picture or your post? Personally, the only thing that bothers me about it is that it's 11:53pm, and he should probably be in bed so he can get all of his lifting gainz.
[–]Aladdin701 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
he bought her the phone and stayed with the shit one.
[–]j0hnNM940 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can be this guy. But don't be this guy with this girl.
[–]markmywords13470 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same phone from 1998.
[–]rejac2180 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't know...he might have bitches a Poppin" and miss Fitbit has no idea. Like the beepers back in the day...

As much as people want to be anti-smartphone, in this day and age you absolutely need one. Get lost on the freeway? Google Maps. Need to find a spot for cheap pizza? Quick online search on Yelp. Need to know what highway is congested in real time? Google Maps.
[–]chaderiko2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If you create a lifestyle that needs it, then yes. Entirely possible to avoid creating just that.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you live outside of a metropolitan area I can definitely see where you are coming from, and I wholeheartedly agree with your claim.
[–]Aldhroab0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He most likely took the picture with his real phone. This is a joke guys don’t get your panties in a twist
[–]NeverNeverLandIsNow0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I assume you mean he should keep the Nokia and get rid of the parasite next to him?
Took me a while to understand what was going on. Age is catching up.
I had some similar phone from samsung.
It was unbreakable, akku hold for 3 weeks and it works fine.
Now i have a smartphone, akku holds max 2 days, and always wants to update and other shit.
I dunno. Maybe he's the lucky one to not waste time on useless social media and notifications.
Some business leaders are downgrading their phones because it's harder to focus with constant disruptions.
