Advice saught...

I manage a team of women. The Head of business area is also a woman (completely out depth, and far removed from detail, rates the problem ones).

Not only has she tried to mess with a recruitment, giving preferential treatment to a favourite, she now wants to give the most volatile one a raise. I've shared that I feel any raises should be based on performance and tangible evidence, but she feels it would be a "carrot" and "development incentive" for the individual in question!

Absolutely baffled by the idiot, how do I tactfully disagree and voice my opinion? I have some leverage based on my performance & that they're nervous i'll leave based on other conversations. I'm loathed just to go along with it.
