Today I had a job interview. I got a call Monday asking me to fly down Thursday and interview Friday with a very large company for a job after I graduate. Since I had no commitments (I.e. a girlfriend telling me what to do) I was able to say yes immediately. So three days later I’m flying out to start a new chapter in my life. This job requires a lot of relocation, every year or so. One of the other guys interviewing kept talking about how he has to run everything by his girlfriend. It gave me a confidence boost going into the interviews knowing that I would be able to say “send me anywhere where the work is” and mean it, while the other guy may have to turn the job down because his his girlfriend doesn’t want to move. I’m thankful I recognized early on that if I want to be successful in life and this industry, I have to be flexible and not have a ball and chain tied to my ankle.
