Because gossip and close communication has benefitted women throughout the ages and killed off those that didn't? Women don't have the ability to change their environments history-wise so they rely on men. What women have is information, what men to engage and who to avoid, also knew where they were in the pecking order which was everything they had. Remember that women without men die.

I ask this ALL the time. My only idea is they want that lifestyle. Yea... they tell you they want peace, love, quiet, and a little family and all. But their actions show they want high drama, high stress, status and fame, cheating and infidelity, lies and deceitful lives. Superstars, movie stars, actors, etc. They're extremely drawn to it subconsciously. My only answer is that's how they truly are deep inside.

I feel this way about pretty much every TV show. People sit around watching other (fictional) people be with their friends (that's all Friends was...), spend time at work discussing the different characters' choices as if they were real people, debate about which character you're like, get into actual arguments over plot lines, what a waste of life. Seen it with Cheers, Seinfeld, Sex and the City, Grey's Anatomy, Big Bang Theory, Friends...Friends has been over for I don't know how long, and people are still pining over the show.

I dated a woman who loved people-watching and then also listening to what they were saying. She would at time go out to dinner with her mother and they would enjoy the same sport together, so they wouldn't talk during the meal, but listen to the conversations around them; and then - after the dinner - talk about the conversations that they have heard.
