Shower thought: Happy birthday is basically congratulations on not dying.

But really, best wishes. A little over 10 years ago, I had moved temporarily to a new town about a month before my birthday. I hadn't made any close friends yet, so I ended up treating myself at a Mexican restaurant. I must say, best birthday ever. No stress, no hassle. Now that I live close to family again, I'll let them take me out the week of, but I always block off the actual day for myself.
