You can just watch how girls talk about their best friends behind their back. I know every deep dark embarrassing secret my ex wife has ever been told by any of her girlfriends about them or their husbands. I still get told this stuff and we have been apart for almost two years. It’s like they find joy in other peoples pain and shame. They might fake some empathy but don’t even see what’s wrong with how they talk about it and throw gas on the fire.
If a friend shares something with me in confidence or seeking advice it goes to the grave with me unless they make it public.

Men are literally farther along on the evolutionary scale. As the hunters and gathers of the tribe we had to be able to work together. So we developed the ability to think logically and to reason beyond our base instincts and emotions. Women never developed this ability because they never needed to. Concepts like loyalty, respect, honor, and love are purely male concepts. Women are not truly capable of embodying any of these traits because her ability to reason can be overruled by her instincts and emotions at any time.

It can also be argued that women did have those traits/concepts. But then they devolved because the ones who were loyal (and did not take another mate when their partner died to animals or other men) died off because they no longer had a provider/protector. Or the whores simply outbred the loyal ones.
But it is probably as simple as you explained and the mechanism of selection that I mentioned has had very little to no impact.

(sorry for long post - this idea started as 1 paragraph but took a spirit of its own. I hope you enjoy reading my comment :))
Men also train each other to have empathy and respect and self awareness. When a male is a screw-up, he gets called out for his inefficiencies in all the possible peer groups he is in. Men do this becuase the only other possibility is dysfunction or conflict. To avoid conflict with an undercivilized stupid chimp, you do what you can to civilize the chimp in your peer group (or throw him out, so he learns the lesson) . Older males who have experience will do this more, and younger men who want to emulate them will follow their example. A positive feedback loop of demanding self awareness and consciousness and carefulness and respecting boundaries then develops. Thus, men spearhead the evolution from animal to human.
Women breastfeed. Women feed the body, but they cannot feed the soul or civilize a man. They can only shame him and bully him and stab him in the back and perform relational aggression. To feed someone's soul, you have to come outside of your self. You have to have an interest to come out of self, and a bit of shame if you are stuck in self all the time. Not be so infatuated with your self and your feelings all the time to the point that you go a lifetime of blindness to others around you. (how many women you have met who aren't preoccupied with their feelings and shopping and food and generally bodily functions and me me me kind of thinking all the time? How many women have you met who can relate to another grown adult man properly in a deep way? They relate well to other women and to children and pets and made up characters in TV shows; and to a husband or boyfriend they can fake it to leech on his resources, but they without exception all suffer hopelessly in relating to adult, respectable, honourable, and wise men, including their fathers and brothers).
Once the eyes are open, and you can see the evil in the heart of another, especially in unrestrained and uncivil women, your bondage and slavery chains are broken, and you carry on freely, developing yourself, spearheading civilization and evolution, to create more advanced men and women in your lineage, provided you plant your seed in the hard-to-find women who are more civilized and self-aware than their majority female peers.
But there is a trial: uncivilized women usually seduce men, to leech off of good men; with make up, cleavage, leggings, social pressure, clothing that accentuates hips and fertility, that calls forth your loins to them..allusions, subtleties, flirtations... a snake with a snare slithers by... They do all they can to reel in a man.
For this reason, the ancient wisdom comes clear now: beware of temptation. You cannot control or limit the temptor, but you can be skilled at being untempationable. Eve tempted Adam. This was not accident. YOU, the man, must be careful to not be easily seduced, and demand civilized behaviour no matter how much tits and voluptuous hips is rubbed to your face to make you forgive and forget the agency and self awareness. That is your trial as a man. To see tits and opened welcoming legs as female monkeys offer a male to get a piece of fruit in return, but you, the man, are to be civilized, and still have to demand a civilized human out of the depths of the flesh that calls you to it, despite the temptation. You versus your biology, used by unethical women who seek to get your seed and resources and commitment to themselves and hook you in. But there are deserving women out there too. It's not all of them. Seek them.
Most likely you won't find a woman who comes close to being self aware and morally conscious as men are (all moral philosophy treaties are written by men. The women who are put as token in philosophy books are just complaining and nagging about what men have built --- typical female attitude of nagging/ wanting to break down and not having an intention to build up anything as good or better in its place, hence the modern trend of destroying culture and tradition and history when women are put in charge of institutions).
If you select top 5% of civil and self-aware women to create the next generation, you contribute positively to evolution and advancement of civilization, selecting for the genes and attitudes and culture of most evolved, conscious and ethical female you can find.
