Not married and no kids, but had a partner for over 35 years.

Used to think I wanted to raise some, but quickly got over it when I realised it's so pointless. Humans are going rapidly downhill and I'm gonna be too dead to care what my grandkids would be doing while the earth is on fire.

If you want to transmit your genes to future generations, you could donate sperm to be used for artificial insemination and ask to remain anonymous. At least you can do it where I live

The real issue is identifying them as your genes. The body you inhabit is a vector for the transmission of genetic material. At no point is anything yours.

Getting attached to the outcome is the result of pressure from: family, society, and nature.

In short, why worry? Why accept responsibility for something you were never honestly consulted about in the first place.
