Any tax benefits were greatly overshadowed by the ex's spending! Taxes were the least of my financial issues with my ex.

Dépend which country you live in, depends whether there's a huge discrepancy on revenues etc... But if you get married for that... Odds are that any gain stood be offset by divorce r*pe. Why take the chance?

I am not sure about the tax laws in your country. Where I live, marriage gives you maybe 1-2k per year of benefits. I think that is a small price to pay for your freedom, quiet, happiness and future earnings.

I have been doing an analysis on my Federal taxes and I can say no benefit unless there are kids (standard deductions) and expenses (daycare and the like), if you make too much then those expenses are negated since they have a, sort of, salary cap where the benefit is reduced to nothing. Make over 6 figures then forget it, they do not even take enough out in payroll taxes to cover the taxes at the end of the year, especially with the revised tax code and loss of various deductions.

The single and married are basically the same, look a the tax tables for single and married filing separately, that aught to tell you something. Of course when you make more than $204k when you end up in the 35% bracket the upper end (single 510k vs married 612k) drops by 100k or so then you are in the 37% bracket, The simple fact is women spend more and are usually incapable of saving, always getting bored with how the place looks, need new furniture, paint the walls, get new clothes, etc...

Being single and making 6 figures would be the same at the tax level but you would save more being single since guys live with less and keep their shit longer than women.

As can be seen for the average guy, there is no benefit to marriage, even with kids as head of household would probably pay better.

I would say do not take what i am saying as gospel consult a tax consultant for planning.

There are too many variables to give any useful feedback based on the info you provided. Generally speaking, you won't have access to the same number of benefits and credits that go with a family and kids with MFJ. Although you won't get as many credits and deductions, you will have fewer demands made upon your resources, greater freedom, etc., etc., so you're better off in the long run.

If you both earn about the same, there is really no advantage and quite the disadvantage at the high end.

I don't recall anymore, having been divorced 15 years now.

All I know is any benefit isn't worth the hassle.
