A man's wife suddenly and tragically dies, and he finds out that she has been cheating on him for the past three years.
If you need any further proof that women will invariably tend to their own selfish needs it's that when this man lost his job and his father died, at the same time, his wife cheated on him because he was "distant". No fucking shit, bitch. He lost the most important man in his life, his own father. And instead of supporting him through the loss of his father, and instead of supporting him through the misfortune of losing his job and finding another (both of which are things that he is expected to do for her)... she decides to start the process of branching.
This exemplifies two big concepts that I have been trying to explain to other men my age but haven't been able to articulate. That women will always -- ALWAYS -- jump a sinking ship instead of working to right the ship, despite demanding that men resort to sinking themselves to keep women afloat. And that there is absolutely no way to be 100% certain that your girlfriend or wife is a "good one." This man believed he had a good wife. Not perfect, but good. But he didn't know, and he could not ever have known, and neither can any man. The only way to be certain that your wife is not betraying you is to not have a wife. If given the opportunity they will exploit you, then move on when they no longer have anything to gain from you, and you will have no way of ascertaining whether you are being exploited or not until it's too late and she's already taken what she wants from you.
No matter what agreement you have in place. No matter what social contract. No matter how you feel about them. They will because they can.
Several of my friends and coworkers claim to have found a "good one," even after they've already left an ex-wife that cheated on them and stole their kids. All I can do is shake my head and think to myself, "No you haven't."
