Japanese concept of marriage is not the same as western concept of marriage. According to pre-modern Japanese Law, the choice to remain single was the greatest crime a man could commit and there is immense pressure by society and government for their men to get married.

However, Japanese women are infamous for being sluts and thots. Even married women are allowed to engage in prostitution and the husband can't do anything about it. And Japanese husbands are notorious for being sexually frustrated by their wives.

Most men in Japan though, do engage with prostitutes. However, because Japanese culture is very, very conservative, there is very little a man can do to find emotional fulfillment. I might even add that I don't believe Japanese men are even taught how to manage their own male vulnerability in the correct way.

Lastly, he's not hurting anyone. A man loves idealistically, while a woman loves opportunistically. This man married an ideal, not material. He is in love with an idea of a something that doesn't judge him, even though he realizes that it is completely fantasy (if you read the articles on the web).
