Oh look at that, that's my setup I posted!

I was in an emotionally abusive marriage in a job I absolutely despised for years. I one day I decided I had enough of my toxic life and I left he and put in my notice at work. I gave her everything in the divorce to do an uncontested divorce so I did not have to pay alimony, only nine months of utilities on the house we were renting. I moved four hours away and hit the reset switch on my life.

It might look humorous and pitiful, but this little setup represents me being free for the first time in almost a decade. I don't have to tiptoe around someone when I want to do something I enjoy doing. I can go to bed when I want, spend money on things as I want, and live my life as I want (do I play too many games after a long night of work? I sure do, but I finally can make my own decisions again).

As someone with mental health issues (depression and OCD is a bitch, but I'm back on antidepressants after a long hiatus from them), my former life was literally killing me. If I did not leave when I did, I probably would have ended up killing myself, no joke.

So instead of saying "don't be this guy," folks should be happy for me. I'm slowly recovering. I have a nicer car now than I had during my marriage. I visited my younger brother and best friend recently, something my ex wife never would have let me do. I am able to save money for the first time in the eight years I was in that relationship.

Do what makes you happy, not anyone else.

I actually laughed with this. Not in a way of "ahah, look at this looser!" ... I laughed at the fact he is taking it with a smile, too (or so it seems).

He will overcome all this, I have no doubt.

I'm hoping this post was sarcastic in tone.

For men who have gotten married and are in terrible relationships with overbearing and controlling women protected by the guns of the state, a life of simplicity like this is exactly what they should hope and pray for. Infinitely better than what they have/had.

All you need tbh. A nice laptop and a 2nd TV. And holy hell I had the same computer table like 9 years ago when I was at my mom and pops before the service. Damn thing probably still in that room (last time I was home like 3 years ago it was there).
