I’ve seen numerous posts and articles, including on this very subreddit, featuring various advices and guides regarding meeting women for one night stands. I never did and still don’t understand why would men willingly go into that water, all the while knowing about all the risks of even hooking up with a girl.

I get it, sex is nice and we all have needs. But even with every imaginable precaution you’re still not safe from being accused of rape, sexual harassment, etc. Even if you tape the entire thing including her giving you an explicit written consent and signing a waiver, you still will be subjected to a long and tiresome process at the court of public opinion where you’re guilty until proven innocent, and even if you are proven innocent, your reputation is no longer intact and she gets to walk away scot-free. Not to mention that you would probably lose your job and maybe even some friends.

And please, don’t even star with “well she’s not like that”. You wouldn’t know if she’s not like that until it’s too late. So many news, posts and articles about how someone’s got metoo’ed, or hooked up on alimony, or divorce raped, but there are still men who are willing to risk their reputation, freedom, and financial independence for a brief moment of carnal pleasure. It absolutely baffles me. Hooking up with women in our modern world is like swimming in shark infested ocean. Granted, sharks don’t always attack people, but when they do, your chances of survival are next to zero. So, is it really worth it?
