(Colossians 3 )

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Apostle Paul instructs women to submit to their husbands. Notice he does not instruct them to love their husbands. By contrast, men are instructed to love their wives. Love means to accept something including its faults. He then says - do not be bitter against them - so meaning ignore the shortcomings that your wife has.

This means according to Apostle Paul, marriage is an inherently one sided contract. Men can not expect love from their wives, only submission. By contrast the woman can expect unconditional love.
