The weapon looks non Western and the shape of the helmet inner (it looks like just the inner bit – lighter plastic while training) is also non Western. The camouflage looks European (although I am less certain of that).

Actually, the helmet is the basic pattern of all the Eastern European (Warsaw Pact) countries--they even had them in Afghanistan when their military was under Soviet tutelage. Furthermore, she's using an RPG which is also a well-known Warsaw Pact weapon (Vietnam-era vintage by the looks of it). So, it's definitely an eastern European former Warsaw Pact country.

Yes, you are right about the Warsaw Pact stuff. I can see the Russian military wearing them but not Afghani locals. The climate and terrain there would be more similar to SA than to Europe. We [white SA] had them only because our legacy was European – they’re useless and heavy operationally and we never used them, preferring the sun protection, lightness and sweat absorbing properties of the ubiquitous bushhat.

The Soviet trained Afghan military (circa 1980s) wore them as well. They drove T-62s, used AK-47s, PKMs and Soviet-style RPGs.

I have never been to Afghanistan but I believe it to be arid, hilly terrain. A military doctrine of hit-and-run, guerrilla warfare makes more sense. The Afghani’s (AFAIK) are a tough and tenacious enemy, well suited to that style of warfare. They just got free stuff from the soviets. Tanks must have been pretty useless in that terrain and required logistic support (which they didn’t have) and detracted from the mobile and agile doctrine of guerrilla warfare against an enemy used to set piece battles. AK47’s and RPG’s would be useful though.

Is an Eastern European/Russian army.
The uniform and equipment suggest East Europe, the instructor suggest slav nation.
The vegetation and weather suggest Nordic area.
Slav nations in Nordic areas: Russia, Belarus, Poland, Ukraine
Any other possible nations in Easter Europe during the winter: Bulgaria, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia....
My bet, as an Eastern European is that this is either Russia or Ukraine.
My second bet is that this can also be a para-military camp/training, a private training for everyone. Why? Because the trainer uses non-standard military uniform, it looks more like spec-ops (something you can actually buy/made and use in a private training camp).
Also the women are too old for grunt training. Usually grunt training stops at 25, these appear over 30.... I may be mistaken.
Given the recent tensions, it may be Ukraine and a para-military private training camp for civilians. (yes we have those in Eastern Europe, you pay, you get to play soldier, is fun).

If I was forced to report on the Intel this picture gives...I would say this is militia style training(obviously), occuring east of Poland, not south of Ukraine not east of Urals and most certainly Russian. Mostly I am going on birch trees and plains grasses.

Probably possibly true. Let's hope we're wrong. Dealing with just 1 wife is really a strain today, can't imagine what having to go to work to a WW3 front would entail, just the thinking of the unpaid over hours gives me a headache let alone bringing the right flour back home from the shop in the, I imagine, less desirable conditions. A big reason for that, in ny humble opinion, is that if you're a soldier who enlisted in the Army, you will live in shitty barracks. The only way to avoid that is make E-6 (which takes at least 6 years), become a CO or a WO, or get married. It's easy to blue pill a guy when he needs to be married to have a decent standard of living, or wait at the very least 6 years to get high enough in the ranks. My mother was a lieutenant and my father a major-captain (East European grades.. complicated shit).
During the communist times, the training was for fucking real, even for women. Not this bullshit feel good propaganda crap.
fire range, 180 rounds of AK for a 21 year old girl from 3 positions (up, knee, floor), no soft padding, wooden stock
my mother's shoulder was bleeding trough her uniform, and most girls where the same, some needed medical discharge...
the army back then did NOT give a single shit, yes they were excluded from RPK training, and their physical courses where smaller, but they got all the shit trow at them, marches, patrols, fire range, and so on
only after they finished the basic grunt training they could move to some more comfy positions... like liaison or communication.
on a funny note, back then ALL WOMEN had to do mandatory military service. It was somehow shorter than men, (9 months to 1 year, vs 1 year to 1.5) but it was mandatory, and they wipe the floor with you during that time.
on short, as long as you get a proper training, and they don't give you any fucking passes because "pussy" then I see no problem with women in military
also, our army, as any communist army, don't had the balls to call women and men "equal"!
Women served in women roles, liaison, communications, radar, sanitary, and only the ones that actually could rise up to the standards of males served as drivers, infantrymen, artillery and so on.
There was a clear distinction between men and women, the training was different, and later on even the equipment.
Men had the old but reliable wooden stock AKMs, the women usually got the lighter folded stock. Men got 3+1 mags, women got 1+1. Men got RPKs, AG-7 and of course PSLs, while women barely touched these "big boy" weapons.
So yes, it was and it still is a clear distinctions between genders for the equipment, training and even battle roles.
That is the huge difference between a "feminist" retarded PC army like Sweden, where they lower standards to make everyone "equal" and any other army that has SEPARATE standards for separate roles, for men and women.
sorry for the long post, just wanted to clarify that not all armies that have women in them are retarded, even if some units... and even training officers... are completely retards :D

Why should they?
It is insane to allow incapable soldiers to deal with heavy live ammo. Their place is somewhere else. You can use them as liaison, communication, sanitary, and so on.
For example Romania uses women as 7+1 platoons during peace keeping operations. They role is to connect with civilians and assure everyone that they are ok. The guys secure the perimeter, the woman and the officer or liaison guy talks with the natives.
When in Arab countries the woman talks with women, the officer/liaison talks with the men.
Yes, they carry body armor, AK, ammo and all the rest, but they have other missions. For example they must learn the native's language and culture. And they do have courses and even tests... The rest of the guys have them optional.
If used properly and not in a demented feminist "women and men are equal", you can actually make sense of "women in military".
Unfortunately, the west does not listen to us in the east, and they expect women to become grunts, or even elite grunts like marines and so on. Good luck with that.

When my friend worked as a PMC in Iraq he did training of Iraqis as security guards. He saw 5 guys blown into meaty chunks and a dozen wounded because after an RPG failed to fire in training the guy wielding it started bashing it on the ground to try and get it to work.
