I used to volunteer for a group that supported people with brain injuries. I got to know three men who had been married, with kids, good job, good providers, who were involved in an accident that reduced their mental capacity to where they couldn't work anymore.
There were not drooling ward candidates but they had diminished capacity and all three were aware of what had happened to them.
In every case the wife had divorced them.
These guys lived on basically nothing. Just whatever their disability insurance would cover for basic needs.
Their wives just continued on with their lives and every one remarried within a few years.
They are all the same.

Men are disposable, men are replaceable. Personally I don't have the heart to treat a woman like that but at the end of the day I guess the jokes on me.
[–]Senip697 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But they are these days though. There is over 3 billion of them so the baby bottleneck which makes them protected no longer applies
[–]Sir_manalot4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes and no, women are also equally (actually more) disposable according to that logic. Women exist to create more babies and we have so many that societies now have birth control and shit because we have too many babies.
The thing is that men were always disposable tools, even when they were actually invaluable to the tribe they were in (which is why they were still disposed of and such back then).

Yeah. No such thing. My ex did something similar when I had a rough stretch.
Idiot was in her late 30s and thought she'd find someone else. Never happened for her. 😂👍💪

My story was a bit different. We're both are highly sucessful professionals, about to buy 50% partnership in bussiness worth few hundred of thousands. After popping out a kid she got a 7-year itch and wanted to upgrade to Chad while staying married so she could have best of both worlds. I was having none of that shit, nuked the whole deal from orbit. After a month she realized that Chad was broke as fuck and had a drinking problem, she got tired of being a suggar momma and paying for him and tried to crawl back - meanwhile I got myself a lawyer and had papers ready. Divorce took about a year and she tried to take half of my everything but got fuck all. She went from living in decent house, having gardener and cleaners, working part time to single motherhood, small rented apartment and full time work. She hit her 40s not long ago and has no chance for another high status man. She had her chance in life and blew it.

Good on you for the way you handled it.
Best advice for any man is get a fucking lawyer as soon as anything looks wonky.
Protect yourself.

How do you guys feel about Stoicism in general?
I've been trying to get into it a bit more and was wondering what my fellow MGTOWers think.
[–]rpbanker13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've been picking up stoicism in dribs and drabs, and I find that it's made me, uh, less unhappy. Not exactly MORE happy, but it's certainly been useful. I used to stay awake at night thinking about situations, but now it's like "Ehh, the actors will play their parts, and what I think about it is not of any great concern."
The concept that "what you think about a thing does not change the reality of it" is a great advantage that men have. We can see the underlying issue, correct it, and move on with our day. Women are incapable of this, which is why life can crush them while they're running around to see how everyone feels about something.
[–]youngshinobi79 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Interesting that you ask. I've literally started studying this philosophy about a couple weeks ago. I just boil it down to the power to not give a fuck, along with realizing there are things or people that you can do without in sort of a minimalist capacity. Trim the fat off your life. Indifference is the best revenge you can give. Hate is still an emotion just as much as love so by being angry you're still giving energy for the succubi to feed on.
I think the concept of stoicism is easier for nonchalant and introverted people to adhere to. People who thrive on social interaction may find it difficult for them and they end up feeling lonely.
To answer your question it goes hand in hand with MGTOW and I love it.

Diogenes, Epictetus
Diogenes roasts people while Epictetus is in the library writing everything he notices.

I'm currently reading up on Epictetus but I do love a good roast so I'll have to check out Diogenes. Thanks for the tip!

Stoicism is nice. Make you stop caring about bullshit. Just remember that you dont have to take philosophy as whole, you can take only the good parts, becouse bad part of stoicism is getting married and having kids is duty. I mean maybe it was 2000 years ago. In todays fuked up world I would say the duty is not to have kids with demoralized women of todays, so demoralization stops spreading.
If You want start stoicism I recommend go for Epictetus Discourses first then Marcus Aurelius Meditations. Also check out r/stoicism.

Status. Alpha males. If a man can display that he is an alpha and/or that he has significant status he will have women flock to him. Especially, when women are ovulating. Women want to live with betas (providers) and fuck alphas (superior genese). Their ultimate goal would be to procreate with an alpha and have a beta (whiteknight) come along, marry her and raise/adopt her child/ren. Approximately 5-7 years down the line, when the kids are past their formative years, she will divorce her beta and take the kids and take at least half of his shit. She will then look for another alpha to breed with and a new beta to provide for her...rinse and repeat until she can no longer procreate. At which point some sod has to deal with her shit for the rest of his life.
It's evolutionary psychology. No judgment involved, it's just how it is and how we are where we are. Society has tried to mitigate that behaviour through social and institutional measures such as monogamous marriages. However, feminism has completely unleashed that behaviour in women. Men are waking up to this and stepping off the carousel.
[–]0mGrG41616 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Makes sense. Two questions:
How does one demonstrate alpha status
Is the reward worth doing what it takes to be an alpha?
[–]Sir_manalot6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Deadbeats, criminals, rapists, etc are the type of men that get the girl that they want (and several of them at once). Good men like Elon Musk are single, while Nikolas Cruz gets 1000s of love letters.
You could also just remain a beta and buy sex with money/status/power/etc. You are still a beta at that point, but being a beta isn't bad by itself. Also, starving women of attention can also work to get laid (women will want to pull you back). Men try to make these men look like alphas because of how negative the term beta has become. But if you have to buy sex like this, you are a beta.
As to why this is, it is outdated biology from a pre-agricultural age. Where men couldn't be providers and get anywhere.
And for 2: No, not really. In the end, you end up becoming a tool that lives to please women. Your end up losing yourself when you try to become what women want. Unless you are an alpha type already ofc
[–]0mGrG41613 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Brilliant. Thank you. You write very eloquently and also you have a solid premise backed up with facts. I want to buy you several beers
[–]JBurger585 points6 points7 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Answer to first question is read the side bar. One doesn't demonstrate alpha...when you apply alpha behaviour in a situation others notice it. Otherwise, you're simply faking it and you'll be exposed eventually. Focus on yourself and not what others think. The rest will come naturally.
Q2. Rather focus on adopting sigma behaviour...in life one has to behave beta and alpha in different situations. They both have strengths and weaknesses. It's a difficult balance, but absolutely necessary. The reward is that you navigate through adversity and improve as a person.

There is a lot of info out there. This post comes from me synthesizing a lot of scientific info. I'll link a few articles that are on my pc. It's the evolutionary psychology and behavioural endocrinology behind TRP.
I did a search of my pc and bookmarks. Found what I could. There is an excellent article that I read from 2017 and I can't find it anywhere :( Links to latest science is below: -http://ebook3000.com/The-Handbook-of-Evolutionary-Psychology--Volume-1--Foundations--2nd-Edition_520511.html -http://ftp.iza.org/dp12185.pdf -https://ed.ted.com/lessons/the-science-of-attraction-dawn-maslar -https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/9781119085621.wbefs469 (get it through sci-hub) -https://www.gwern.net/docs/genetics/selection/2016-whyte.pdf -https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-39350-8#Sec12 -https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/978-3-319-16999-6_117-1.pdf "Recent studies by evolutionary psychologists have shown that during their ovulatory phase, women are attracted to men whose body build and facial features reflect high testosterone and basic good health (that is, good genes),whereas otherwise, they are more influenced by indications of intelligence, kindness, sense of humor, ambition, and personal responsibility. In other words, women follow a two-part reproductive strategy consistent with an evolutionary history of polyandry: mate, when possible, with partners carrying those good genes, but associate socially with those offering the prospect of being good collaborators and co-caretakers of children"

NAWALT. when women has no values, this is what you get. You have to take into consideration the cultural differences. But for the US, things have gone nuts. Sex obsession and stuff, talk about a key to power for women!!!when they got by your dick, they got you by your neck
[–]JBurger581 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
NAWALT = No, all women are like that.
Values are a socially constructed system resulting from the development of the prefrontal cortex. The basic drive of homo sapiens is to survive (collect and consume) and procreate - limbic system. Those base drives are far stronger than learnt behaviour/socialising (value transmission). For the most part, the prefrontal cortex is a slave to the limbic system. It works out the best way to serve the needs of the limbic system. The only thing I believe values change is where a woman lies on the spectrum of hypergamy. Other than that...AWALT
