I(29M) was at a family dinner with extended family(pretty conservative). Cousin asked when I'm getting married and I replied, "Never."

Asked why and I reply, "Would you go into surgery knowing there's a 50% chance you'd die? Marriage is just not worth it." He laughed.

Then my mother jumped in yelling, "I don't know what I did to deserve this! It must be all my fault, I didn't do a good job raising you!"

People jump in saying:

"It's okay auntie, he doesn't understand."

"You're wonderful!

"He'll come around don't worry."

Got angry looks from all the women rest of the night lol!
