The only way having a wife means double income is it meant I worked harder to advance myself to keep up with her spending. Had I never gotten married, I probably wouldn't have bothered because I can live cheaply.

Getting a load of credit is the simplest way to fuck your potential future up....I see all my friends in relationship as slaves to the grind because of the debts they've taken on to have a life they simply cannot afford, some are even working a second job just so they can get by.

Income/expenses aside there are lots of cases of general society favoring married couples over single people. From single men being seen as pathetic to married people having different income thresholds for government programs. Many such cases!

Best case scenario (or basically, things that never happen): good wife and only a single kid. If you don't even want kids, why even marry at all? Just go FWB or something, not like there will be anyone that will need both parents in the same house.

200% the income divided by 3 is 66,67% of money for you assuming everyone shares equally and properly.

I'm pretty sure 33% of that money is definitely not as much as you'd pay in taxes when living alone...

This guy doesn't get it, Men who are not interested in relationships and children don't need much to live, this has been a phenomenon that has been consistent throughout the 60 years that it has been studied and it has been true cross culturally, men who haven't been in a significant relationship earn less then women who haven't been in a significant relationship and the reason is once you take the desire for relationship out of equation a man is much more likely to drop out of the rat race, compared to women who are more likely to focus on their career because they have nothing but there career at that point, this is why China is so concerned, they have 30+ million more men then women and that is a economic as well as cultural nightmare waiting to happen considering how much of a status driven and face saving society it is with a model of morality that is enforced through shame, Japan also is facing this problem with herbivore men, it is problem big enough that it is putting significant strain on economy, those men are not interested in buying a car and a house, they do minimum amount of work required to take care of their parents and not be a burden on them, considering all the free shit that they get, it's not hard to do, which is why the shaming has been going on for some time now

Really? Because I'm only $500 away from liquidating my truck payments. A 54 week payment plan that through diligence, planning, and hard work only took me 18 weeks to pay off. And I can tell you, if I was in a relationship, not only would I be paying the minimum, but I might have been falling behind on payments and possibly getting my truck repoed. After this I only have my rent, car insurance, prepaid phone bill and gym as bills, and they only amount to around $500 a month and about $100 in groceries. Which is a bargain compared to if I was married. Imagine have to pay a house mortgage, utility bills, groceries, perhaps two car payments, taxes, incidentals like medical bills, the mandatory vacation to Disneyland, gym memberships, and having to pay for little Britney's ballet classes and little Chad's football equipment.
