So I earn something like 32k-36k a year. I plan to move out of my grandparents house and into my own house ASAP. I calculated that I could safely afford (with perfect management) a maximum priced house of 165k. That's not so bad, and I'm more looking for the range of 120k-130k. Problem is I live in the east coast, Massachusetts specifically. Housing is commonly a super premium. I am qualified for HUD and don't mind picking up someone's foreclosure.
I'm a hardcore "bottom feeder" ascetic and will commit to full-on conservation and micromanagement of resources if need be for a while. The way I put bottom feeding; surviving off less to live on more. And I like it. I end up with big wads of dough someone like me doesn't generally have. But instead of spending those wads on things I want for fun and relaxation I could spend them on my house. Upgrading, repairing, I just can't wait to be actually doing it.
So any advice for a first time homebuyer?
