What would you do if your old and can’t take of yourself?

I'm older, not far from death (I estimate I have 25 years left at best, if I'm lucky)

Dying alone isn't my concern, I plan to die alone. dying on my own terms is my concern.

that's my plan, and I'm preparing for it as best I can.

beats rotting away and abused in a nursing home stealing everything you worked for in your life.

edit: I'll add that I have a kid, that's where I want all of my remaining wealth to go when I'm done living my life. If I didn't have a kid, I'd spend most of my wealth enjoying life, leaving enough to cover expenses for several years, while living a minimalist lifestyle.

Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us. You can die before you can fully enjoy your life and wealth. If I was 16, I'd try to find ways to be able to retire at 30, at most 40 with a passive income and growth for the rest of my life. That path is not available to me, so I'll make the most of what I have to work with.

There are communities for seniors now, but I hope by then, men start organizing themselves into male communities.

Things could look very different 5 years from now, too.

Go to hospice, if that doesn't work, take out end of life insurance, use friends, or go to the hospital at the end of my life, not 20 months before hand, or just die in a bed.

Start thinking about how you want to exit. We are living too long now. Work out how you will decide when it is time to go.

It is pitiful to see old men, married and single, paying other people to tend to a body that is failing. If they are lucky, they are demented. If not, don't look into their eyes. They are trapped in a ruined body, praying for it to end soon. They know they waited too long and lost their agency.

I’d probably consider the tailpipe exit, myself, if it came down to that.

But ... regular diet and exercise of sorts can keep you going quite a while. I particularly love what I do, so assuming I keep current, I’ll probably work until I’m forced to take my pension.

Depends on what I’m doing with my life. After all, I was happily married 15 years ago as a blue pill simp.

Get a male carer or if you don't have money eat a bullet. That said, you're 16. There might be viable synthetic carers by the time you need it.

I have horrible memories of both my grandparents. Horrible. Less and less coherent until they couldnt even reason, stuck to a chair, diapers, bored to death.... no. And that was with a numerous family that truly cared for them, i cant imagine how bad it could be if i was among only strangers in some old people's house or at home assisted by a professional. I simply refuse to spend the last 10 years of my life like that, especially since it is useless-it can only get worse, not better. Once i am dangerously close to that situation, i hope i will have the strenght of will to end it on my terms, with as less pain as i can.
