I'm mentoring a kid, at his request, who got roped into a marriage at 18. It's a mess, for sure. I'd not suggest any guy wife up that young, especially to a girl that already has two kids.

I've observed plenty of military marriages myself. If your base has a deployment that both you and this kid are not part of, take him to the bars that night to see how many of the wives are already out on the prowl.

Hit with some stats; I assume part of military training is some basic risk assessment.

50% of marriages end in divorce. That's in the overall population. By all accounts, military is higher. It also depends on age, minimizing about mid 20s, but much higher for under/early 20s. I also understand that there's a penalty in the military if one gets divorced, but that might just losing the bump up for getting married. There also may be a thing about child support, whether the children are his or not.

Laugh at them. Mock the shit out of them. Tell them how the little wifey is gonna be curling her toes and calling some other guy daddy while he's out there getting his dick knocked in the dirt. It's a hail mary maneuver but being nice about it sure as hell isn't gonna work.

Fellow soldier here. Got married/divorced within two years. Worst experience of my life, but I am so glad it happened because it brought me to MGTOW. I also realize more and more how valuable my life situation will be as a single soldier, and especially when it comes to retirement.

Do the best you can to help him out, but if he bites the bullet, he will learn just like I did. Sometimes people have to learn themselves by going through the pain. Whatever happens, happens, and is the way it should be.

I don't know.

I would find a divorced sergeant and have him tell him his story. At that age it's going to be hard to change their minds.
