This topic is rarely covered here. And although it's almost a given that everyone wants to have kids, having kids is kind of a meme. I'm not saying don't have kids. I couldn't stop you anyways. I'm not making a boring overpopulation argument either so chill with your statistics. I'm just saying that logically, if you don't have a strong maternal-like instincts to reproduce, it doesn't make much sense to breed.

Maybe you have a grandma that wants to see a grandkid before she's swallowed into the abyss, who knows? Maybe you're being peer pressure into procreating and there's nothing wrong with that.

But what about muh-genetic line? As a semi intellectual I find that to be an abstract, ego centric concept. It's like worrying about your headstone after you're dead.

Don't get me wrong, the urge to breed was very important for the human species in times of high mortality and population scarcity.

But now? In the modern world, where the challenge isn't survival but a struggle to find meaning in life, having kids is neither here nor there. Again, if that's what you want to do, I'm not shitting on your desire to, I'm simply attempting to look at the situation logically.

You're going to live your life and die, regardless. That's a given. You have the option to dedicate your entire life to novel experience, learning, overcoming challenges, spinning plates, and generally doing whatever the fuck you want.

There's another option where you sacrifice your freedom to be monogamous with a woman for the rest of your life in order to start a family that you will be kicked out of if you're not on top of your game, in monogamous extra hard mode, INDEFINITELY.

If you break frame or if your chick gets bored, you risk having another man or the state raise your kids. Not to mention being financially leeched off of for child support by a woman that you once loved.

But let's say you're up to the challenge. You have impeccable frame, you keep your family together and you raise your kids into adulthood. Are your children to just follow in your footsteps, selflessly dedicating their lives to maintain those around them?

Is the purpose of modern life to spend all your time making sure you'll produce people who will spend all their time doing you did?

This question has to be asked in the modern world because we don't have the luxury of needing to maintain our tribe's able bodied population. What was once a biological necessity has been reduced to a lifestyle choice like whether you're vegan or whether you're straight edge or not.

I get childfree people but I also I understand fathers. Personally, I'm on the fence. On one hand I probably have the luck and game to keep a bitch in check and raise a kid in a two parent household. On the other hand, I can see myself doing this bachelor shit until the wheels fall off, cause in the end, who gives a shit?
