You're hearing more about it because the negative stigma is falling by the wayside. Most 'Youtubers' also operate in a fairly closed market, to say that their viewers are probably only watching other content on the same topic etc. The mainstream media will also avoid covering suicides if it doesn't have a bigger story to go with it.

It is obvious there are many answers to this, but I will suggest it is because of their displacement and loss of telos.
