You know that is an excellent (and insightful) "addendum" to Sowell's point:

Take a somewhat/relatively "average" dude (lets be generous and give him a slightly ABOVE average IQ, lets say ~~105 IQ~~ nah, in fact lets put him at the peak of what is considered the "normal/average" Standard Deviation {SD} range at 115 IQ).

Have him engage in boxing (or football or some other "head injury" sport)... and let's just subtract some trivial 5 IQ points (*) for that... now he's down to ~110 IQ (possibly lower -- still functional, but no longer quite so "sharp").

Plop what he's been led (indoctrinated, brainwashed by media) to believe is a "good looking" woman in front of him... subtract Sowell's 20 points... now he's down to a ~90 IQ.

Now add booze (and or other drugs)... subtract another 20 points... dude's down to ~70 IQ.

That's at the bottom of the "Borderline" and arguably into what used to be called "moron" level (i.e. IQ range 51-70) and is even these days classified by psychiatrists & referred to as "Extremely low" and "Mental Defective" as well as occasionally "Mild Mental Retardation" (yup they don't use the term "Retard" but they DO still use "Retardation"). Able to function quasi-independently (dress themselves, wipe their own arse, etc), but not much more.

-- Now that's starting with someone at the TOP of the "average" range.

Imagine what happens if you were slightly below average -- within (or even just at the bottom) of the "average/standard deviation" -- IOW, you started with IQ of 85.**

By the time your concussed (-5 = ~80), hormone "fuzzed" (-20 = ~65) drunken ass (-20 = ~45) sees a "hawt" chick (presuming your visual cortex is still functioning even at "beer goggles" level) ... you're down well into the middle of the "imbecile" level; more or equivalent to a "average Chimpanzee" than human (You might NOT quite be exactly a "drooling blithering idiot," but... wiping your own ass is probably going to be a bit of a challenge, and forget about successfully dressing yourself {"how do buttons work again?"} or tying your shoes {Velcro<sup>TM</sup> or "who needs shoes anyway!"}, much less making any "logical" or "rational" decisions... IOW, you'd be fucked {well at least if you could still "get it up" and stay awake for it}).

* The effects of being "concussed" (even a single instance, much less multiple, repeated instances) can be temporary or permanent... but (and I can attest to this personally {loooong scary story}) they are very, VERY real, and cannot be "dismissed" -- and using a -5 is probably a woeful underestimate (albeit YMMV) of the potential debilitating effects.

-- ** Which by the way does NOT make you any LESS of a person, nor mean you don't/can't have substantial "value" in and to society (especially friends, IF they're truly "smart")...

Just that you need to "beware" (be aware of and cautious about, compensate for) your limitations... in the same way that SHORT guys have to compensate (stand on stool/ladder to reach high); or TALL guys have to compensate (duck when entering a room to prevent cracking their head, be on oxygen to compensate for the thinner air)***... that is you need to be WISE in the way you noted -- stay off the booze, etc (you can go out with buddies, in fact when they're drunk -- well as the above illustrates -- you may end up being {at least temporarily, yet by a significant measure, LOL} the "smartest man in the room"... stay sober & ENJOY).

From what I've gathered, here's the best way to explain what a framework is to each side:

Male: Frameworks are structures to the way you code your project. Essentially, building blocks or tools tethered to what you need for the project. Frameworks aren't necessary, but they definitely help with making your code more readable and organized.

Female: Frameworks make programming easier.

Had one female that was doing pretty good in her first week or 2 into web development. Ended up finishing a UI template I gave her within those 2 weeks and I was honestly pretty impressed. After those 2 weeks she gave up because it was a lot of work and research so she started a new hobby which was making keychains from polymer clay. She never did anything with that either. I stopped talking to her because I realized she had no commitment to anything, she was also very emotional. Couldn't tolerate that shit.

I tell people all the time, what I learned in my 6 - 7 years of programming, you can fucking learn in literally 6 months. Technology moves so fast and there are so many free resources out there. I'm actively teaching 2 of my dude friends web development, granted one works mixed hours and the other is in college, they both are very committed to learning to program.
