He was unfiltered and raw. A linguist, a poet, a satirist. His HBO specials are epic. Hold up very well especially the ones from the 90s. Inspired a whole generation of comedians to be fearless and open. He has aspects of mgtow in his act but he was married man and loved his wife. Also, in one of his rants from the 90s he talks about God and how if there was a God would definetly be male because no female could or would fuck things up this badly... Aside from that one illinformed observation he is one of the best.

I met him one night at a music store my buddy's dad owned. I had just finished my guitar lesson and my buddy and I were jamming in the store showroom after hours. The phone rang and my buddy answered the call. I could only hear one side of the conversation but I deciphered that the caller was in need of some casset tapes for a show. I convinced my friend to sell the guy some tapes since his dad owned the store. When the guy showed up i was busy playing some Van Halen pretty loud so I didn't really take notice of him. My friend asked me to stop so they could hear their conversation. So I stopped and finally got a good look at his customer. I walked up to him and asked, "Anyone tell you you look a lot like George Carlin?" He replied "Yeah I get a lot of people say that like my wife and my mom." By that time I figured out I was in the presence of the George Carlin. "Wow, you're George Carlin!" "Yes you catch on fast kid." He continued "Hey guys you want to see my show tonight?" I said sure! He continued "I'll leave a couple of tickets for you both at the will call window." I replied "I'll see you soon!" After he left my buddy bailed out on going to the show but I was determined to go so I went by myself. Mind you I was only 17 at the time and it was a school night as well so I knee if I went I'd pay the price later. I went to the will call window and there were two tickets available. The show had just started so an usher escorted me to my seat. We walked all the way up to the stage and the front row middle of the stage was my seat. When I made it to my seat George stopped his show and said to me "I'm glad you made it!" "Where's your friend?" I said "he wused out." "Well enjoy the show!" He went on to address the audience saying "This guy and his friend are the reason I'm taping this show!" He summed up our meeting and thanked us for helping him out. I enjoyed the show but I was grounded for two weeks because I came in way too late. Post script of this story my dad and I were watching one of the HBO shows he did about 20 years later. My dad got a real kick out of his show. I told him that's what I got grounded for about 20 years ago which he didn't remember. Until then he never realised I had met him on person. I told him it was worth being grounded and he agreed.

George Carlin gave zero fucks about the fallout from telling it like it actually is. I will always appreciate his logic in calling out bullshit. Easily my favorite comedian of all time. So glad the Comedy Hall of Fame broke with tradition and told him he was going to be inducted before he passed away.

As a minor note, he was also an advocate for taking psychedelics in order to push your mind past everything society indoctrinates into us, and why that scares the fuck out of the establishment.

I listen to his old stuff at work. Being a younger guy it took me a while to realise when he was talking about Bush and Saddam comparing dick sizes with missiles, he was actually talking about the first gulf war.

He was humorous...but not funny. He was a communist, self admitted.
