Good lord NO! At 50 if thing go south and you get financially screwed you don't have a lot of time left to rebuild your finances/retirement fund. If you want kids either go the surrogate route, or adopt. The surrogate route is still risky tho as some surrogates don't want to give the kid up after giving birth. Most men are still fertile after 50. The actor Tony Randall became a father for the first time at 77.

I'm 40 and i'm contemplating fatherhood. I've taken steps to protect my assets and i have vetted my current girlfriend extremely thoroughly. If this doesn't work out as i'm hoping i will pay a surrogate.

My country (Sweden) don't have insane alimony laws and shit so at worst i'll be out a couple of hundred bucks a month in payments.

Although it's been said already, it's worth repeating that you are still young. The very best thing you can do for yourself right now is to ply your trade and accumulate wealth. In fifteen years or so, once you've achieved financial independence, if you still want to have biological children (cf. adoption,) then surrogacy is the answer that you seek.

One thing people forget is that at 50, you will less likely have tke energy to deal with a young child.

By 45, you're brave to embark into such endeavor, especially by yourself. And it still is best for kids to have both parents though, which doesn't mean you have to live with the mother.

I guess the best women for such situation are those coming from cultures where they have to choose between work and motherhood and who chose work when young but now regret the absence of their own family. They will be in their early 30s and very aware of their missed opportunity.

Unlike females who think they can have it all and thus think their deserve to have it all and who 'accidently' become mothers at 38 and milk the shit out of the accidental dad, those from cultures where the choice has to be made usually become very understanding and pliable if they feel they made the wrong choice.

In any case, it's not impossible but always a gamble. It's best not to enter such decision with an infatuated mind.

I’m 24 now, planning on waiting till 35 and possibly paying someone to be a surrogate. Or some sort of contract with a women where we both raise the child separately but we have no relationship what so ever. In the future I recon there will be heaps of feminists wanting this sort of business deal. That way they can be strong independent women and I don’t have to deal with their shit. But I know dealing wth a women is never black or white so I could be dreaming tbh
