At 31 I feel that sentiment growing in me as each year goes by.

The vast majority of human interactions are purely transactional, with each person looks to gain something from the other. When you learn this, most social interactions and hierarchical posturing becomes tiring. You'd rather be alone to preserve your energy and sanity.

Our modern social world is incredibly fake. People are climbing over eachother to assert dominance and command the most admiration, so much of this is built off exaggeration and false confidence.

The overwhelming majority of men are SIMP's too. I've found that alone is enough to ruin most interactions and friendships with other men.

That is where I am right now. My view of the world has become almost nihilistic. I have learned the hard way that you can trust no one, that being honest; nice and generous towards other people will get you screwed over and that most people will drop you like a hot potato when you are not of any use anymore.

Also, I have now understood that we human beings are idiots, bound to destroy ourselfs. I mean, we often say things like that, but between saying and truly understanding that really is a difference.

But when I look at my Germany and what is happening here right now, then I finally get it. We are repeating history.

And I am not exactly sure how to deal with that. I live more or less in inner exile, keeping the world out.

Knowing this causes history to come alive for me. I used to be mystified when I read about historical shenanigans like genocide, public executions over blasphemy, chattel slavery, etc, but it all makes sense when you understand that the people around you today are no different than people from the past. A teenager believes everyone else is stupid and evil by faith alone, and it strokes his ego pleasantly. An adult knows from observation that everyone, including himself, is stupid and evil and it terrifies him. There is no God who will save you from your neighbor's next big idea, and you won't believe it's real until you're being herded into the gas chambers, or else there is and he just doesn't care.

I'm super selective of the people I associate with I've had less than a handful of true friends in my life but if we manage to be close enough for me to regard you as a true friend then I'll try to maintain that connection for life .

Most people are utter shit though.

I have experienced that but I'm always prepared, so I dgaf really. I myself do the right thing and protect myself from being used by others so I know I'm doing well in life. People who value that and respond in kind, are welcome in my life. Other than that, I don't let anything keep me down, stopped taking life (and people) all that seriously. I don't have time for negativity anymore, I just have my fun with the lemons life throws my way.

I'll join the masses of responses that you realize this the older you get. Its called Wisdom. Somethings in life can't be taught; only learned through experience.

I have found to do what I want to do and not plan with others. I may invite others to join me, but I don't adjust my plans or time for them. Doing "social" type things by yourself can be extremely therapeutic.

Society ultimately lives in a dream. When you pull back the curtain and see that every single action is motivated by self interest, for better or worse, it's like finding out Santa isn't real as a child. You cannot go back to believing in Santa.

I prefer being alone sometimes because I find the fakeness of people tiring. Working in sales further cemented this, where you begin to see the way people market their junk/lies to make it appealing.

They do say many intelligent people throughout the ages became nihilistic and more prone to depression. I expect it is due to peeling back this very curtain. The way I manage it is to remember that I am also driven by self interest and have strong boundaries with people.
