Maybe this era isn’t the first time that women ran amok and ancient civilisations may have gone through a similar phase in the long lost past and these “traditions” that keep women under control are the result of them learning from that mistake.

I've been saying that for the last 35 years. Giving women rights (with no corresponding responsibilities) was the single worst mistake in the history of humanity.

I like to understand it from an evolutionary perspective. Hypergamy helped our species survive as women who felt it more were more likely to pick partners that had hard to find qualities, but would lead to healthier or better protected children. These women's children were more likely to survive due to this fact and the girls would most likely grow up to be hypergamous too. Overtime, the hypergamy trait would be overrepresented in the genetic pool due to the success it afforded women and their children. Such a developed state of hypergamy created a powerful engine of desire for only the best with absolutely zero brakes in place. This made hypergamy dangerous for the species, but extremely good for the individual woman. Ancient societies most likely saw the unsustainable problem of this desire and built barriers against it like the institution of marriage or social stigmas like slut shaming. Feminine sexuality would thus be repressed, but in the process it would ensure that capable, but otherwise normal men had access to a woman which therefore would make him a productive and contributing member to the society. When the barriers to feminine sexual desire are foolishly removed, women act on their feelings where anything less than the absolute best is settling. The mass of men are ignored and so they check out with no vested interest in the well-being of the society. This leads to the society collapsing like a failing business where the most vital employees and executives leave. Worse yet, this unrestrained feminine sexuality is now combined with a globalized and hyperconnected world, so women are now longer hunting for the ideal mate in her tribe, but now they're looking for him across the land. I really think mgtow is a natural response to an ancient phenomenon and that we are the first few (apart from the Japanese who always seem to be 10 years ahead of everyone else) to quit the game and chose to enjoy our lives for ourselves instead of commiting to husbandship and fatherhood with a woman who cannot help herself to seek better as she has no reason not to.

You are spot on sir. Theres a reason that all major religions have women in these submissive roles. I'm an atheist, but I believe there is legitimacy to religion outside of metaphysics. I don't believe in god, or that jesus had supernatural powers or anything, but I believe he was a really smart guy that figured out how society could be happy. Same for other religious prophets like buddha.

Whats happening now with 3rd wave feminism and modern women is not the first time. Other cultures/religions have realized that when women are allowed to run wild, the society goes to shit. Islamic people didnt just wake up one day in a happy society and say "hey guys, how about we make a rule where women cant leave the house unless escorted by a man, cause you know fuck em?" That rule was created because of rampant cheating, paternity fraud, single moms, etc before Islam was established.

Simply put, civilization isn't sustainable without a balanced sexual marketplace. The sexual have-nots have no stake in society and no incentive to cooperate.
