chameleon in effect. Married/divorced men really should have a site compiling all their "she wasn't the same woman I married" stories. The ones I have seen here are chilling enough especially the ones who say things along the lines of "it was like she was a completely different person" as though they had been in a kind of Invasion of the Body Snatchers sci-fi horror flick.

Usually they get eaten by a fatter, uglier & nastier version of the women you fell in love with.

Dude, I can tell exactly when that happened in my case. My loving wife went back to our old country for the delivery (due to better healthcare and to simplify citizenship for our son) and a completely different person came back.
Now the ex is a single mother, her life went from good life (working part-time, all bills paid by me, exotic holidays each year) to daily grind (working full time, small child support, visits to her parents) and slowly losing the fight against the time and obesity.

sorry to hear that but it sounds like you are doing better than her and without her. Would you say her change was like flipping a light switch or that she simply dropped her mask of pretense?
[–]Doc_Sithicus1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hard to say, it's been nearly 10 years. I initially assumed that she was just stressed, being a new mother, maybe post-natal depression etc. Nowdays I think that in those 3 months she simply fell out of love with me - she had everything going for her - good job, good money, a kid she always wanted - her affection totally switched from me to the child. In her eyes I switched from her husband and father of our child to walking ATM and the person who was getting up in the night to feed/change nappies/put the child back to sleep (I haven't had a full nigh sleep for the first 2 years).
[–]rationalthought3141 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
her affection totally switched from me to the child.
Yeah that's another common complaint of wives changing once they have kids

Observe her mother! Find or engineer a one on one situation where you can intentionally incite anger. You will see who you're really getting involved with then.
I had been given this advice from an unreliable source. Turns out to be the great advice. Better advice is to not engage in close relationships with women at all.

You don't know who someone really is until you fight them.
[–]JimmyPellen29 points30 points31 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You get to see what their first instincts are. Do they blame, do they apologise, do they stay calm?
You get to see the aftermath. Silent treatment, bringing up the incident every chance they get, talking it through.

There really is only one playbook in my experience.
Deny + shame
Cry
Blame / Deflect responsability (usually to you)
Anger (the crazy is unleashed, this is where you get arrested if you don't leave

As an mma fighter this is actually really true! I spar with all my buddies (lightly of course) and you can definitely learn things about them from the experience. Also a great workout

You really don't know a woman until you get married/move in with her/see her in court.
[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
After my last few relationships, I have since realized that if I ever do get in a relationship again (unlikely) I will spend a long weekend or more with the woman ASAP. Do not date for long periods of time without spending several days with her in a row (preferably at her home) because that's the only time her real self will become apparent. She can hide her psychopathic, manipulative tendencies quite easily if you only see her a few times month.
In the past I wasted so much time with women I eventually found out I didn't even want to be in the same room with ever again after spending a longer period of time "trapped" with her.
[–]ConstantChinner3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good idea. Also see how she treats her family (males and females) and see how she treats cashiers and waiters/waitresses.
[–]Pacifist1119 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Have her phone go "missing" for 48 hours. You'll see the real her.
[–]JimmyPellen12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
also, see how they act when they're in a restaurant, department store and there's a problem with the sales and/or service. Do they treat the person in a civil manner, do they start screaming?
[–]Tomato_Joker11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Getting into a relationship is like an interview, She just needs to make a good first (aka false) impression on you.
She'll just play along to "get the job" then After marriage She'll want to become your boss/manager.
edit: Re-phrased words because some idiot got triggered.
[–]Tomato_Joker5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Downvoted for saying that women lie to get you hooked & when you get married you'll see her true colours?
How is that wrong? Instead of hiding behind the downvote button like a coward, why not just reply with your own fucking opinions & prove me wrong then?

Oh shit.. So much truth.

We should make MGTOW meme of the day a thing, I don't care if it ends up being a lot of reposts, memes are a great way to spread information and they're usually funny too.
[–]CongregationVJackals8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Their diet and eating habits sure as hell dramatically change.
[–]Folwart3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's not true as often anymore. I've seen too many that show you exactly who they are before you get married. I'm not complaining, that's a good thing.

[–]Chepos2320 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That is so true. Just bring on the arranged marriages already along with removing every single right women has. Problem solved.
[–]Dan_Vanedzin14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'd decline on arranged marriage, dude.
Sometimes the chameleon is so strong that it dupes our parents into marrying us with the chick, and somehow we still end up with starfishes once every month and a control freak.
[–]cobaltcolander1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is very true and I can confirm from own experience.

[–]redxpills3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's why before cucks want to marry a so called grown up woman, they should arrange the shitton of tests.
Bring the woman to the most stressful condition before you marry a woman, e.g. bring her to the a wild trip with limited budget for weeks. You will soon know a woman true colors under stressful circumstances.
If she can survive your tests, maybe she's a unicorn the one you're looking for. But it's still not a guarantee for you to be happy with her.

"Live with a man 40 years. Share his house, his meals. Speak on every subject. Then tie him up, and hold him over the volcano's edge. And on that day, you will finally meet the man."

Maybe if you were not desperate enough and actually date the person for a couple of years and move in before getting married?
No? Then that's how you gon learn then. Don't rush it.
[–]LILHOMIE12504 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
The whole point is to not cohabitate
[–]Dio_Landa-5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
So you would not live with the woman you are planing on marrying to make sure you guys are compatible?
Why?
[–]LILHOMIE12507 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If you are mgtow u would avoid marriage because you gain nothing
[–]Dio_Landa1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I mean, if you are going to marry.
Not when you already took the mgtow route.
The meme states that you don't really know the woman until you are married. My original post was explaining that it happens to men because they are desperates shits who rush marriage.
And obviously no one gains anything from marriage, no arguing that man.

Sorry I misunderstood you before, but yeah I agree with what you're saying
