Not getting any easier for men. The new Trump tax plan eliminates both alimony and child support as a deduction. That means you get no tax relief at all for making these payments as had been in the past. You will need to make these payments and pay the full income tax on these payments. You pay more in taxes and have less take home pay.

People have argued that it's ok because Trump increased the standard deduction. However, the standard deduction benefits everybody, especially those that don't pay alimony or child support. So any way you look at it people that pay alimony and child support are getting screwed even more than they already were.

I have my custody court/mediation date in a week, asset division the week after. 3 kids under age 5, I make about $2 more an hour more than her, currently paying 54% of my income in child support.
