2 years ago I dated this girl who clearly destroyed our relationship from the inside out. She was a very clingy, insecure, bossy-boots bitch who couldn't handle a simple "No" for an answer.

It was my 20th birthday, it was getting late and I wanted to go out and spend some time with my buds. My ex insisted she come too, but I stood my ground and asked her nicely to stay behind.

She reacted by breaking down into tears and storming upstairs to the room where she was staying. All of this happened while my mother and grandmother were watching. After my ex leaves the room, my mother immediately jumps in and calls me "a fucking asshole."

I told her to shut up and stay out of it, argued and then my mother told me to leave the next day. Some birthday vacation that was.

All of that trouble because I wanted to spend some time with the guys alone.

Needless to say that ship has sailed, but I'm worried about the next time this happens. If my mother tries to intervene and shame me like that, whats a proper way to handle this? Without everybody getting pissed off and wanting to kill each other.
