This is probably the ultimate red pill I had to swallow before becoming full MGTOW.

This happened a few years ago, when I was working in a private hospital, in the transplants unit. Specifically, I was in charge of assessing compatibility between donors and recipients in specific transplants, such as kidney, bone marrow, etc. One of the most common transplants I had to deal with was bone marrow, since it's pretty much the only cure for leukemia, one of the most devastating kinds of cancers; it can happen to literally anyone, at any moment of your life, no matter how healthy your lifestyle is.

Like I said, at the moment the only cure you can get is a bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy will only buy you some time before the inevitable happens. Also, you just can't get any bone marrow, it has to be compatible with your immune system, otherwise it will be rejected. Usually, your best shot is to get a bone marrow sample from a close relative, such as a brother or a sister, sometimes your mum or dad might be compatible although this is rare. If you have no close relatives, of if they're not compatible, your last chance is to go to an umbilical cord bank and see if they have one that's compatible, provided you can pay for it, which is usually extremely expensive for most people and most insurance companies will not help you with that.

So, now the actual story, I received some samples from a family, young son (like 4-5 years old) was diagnosed with leukemia, his only brother was not compatible. In a desperate attempt to save their son, they decide to have another kid and hope he/she is compatible. The chances are quite low, 25% percent to be exact, but some families think it's better to hope for a miracle than just let their little boys/girls die.

So, after a few months, I got the samples from their newborn, I quickly analysed the sample, understanding there was not too much time left. but after going through the results, something was not adding up. The method used was a genetic test, without going into too much detail, it's like a paternity test, but only for the genes of your immune system, so you get to see what genes you inherited from your mum and your dad. Their newborn clearly inherited half of her genes from her mum , but the other half did not match the acceptor's genes. I looked through the dad's results, and he didn't have any of the gene variants I found in the potential donor.

So, in simple words, THE FUCKING MUM CHEATED ON HER HUSBAND WHILE THEY'RE TRYING TO SAVE THEIR SON!. I processed the samples like 3 times to be absolutely sure, one of my former colleagues did the same to rule out any possible human error, but there was no doubt, the results were always the same.

You can probably guess what happened after, their son died, as expected, but do you know what was more infuriating? It's not legal to inform that kind of results to families; normally they're just told that the donor is not compatible, but not why. Also, that lab was vastly dominated by women, and they were all saying "yeah it's probably the best to not tell him, he's going through a lot now, no need to give him any more trouble", bullshit, I wished I'd been allowed to tell him what kind of women he was married to.

So yeah, even when there's a matter of life and death, AWALT!
