That's what started the second wave of feminism... well-off white women like Betty Friedan, Simone de Beauvoir, and Shulamith Firestone were so incredibly shielded from the day-to-day requirement-to-perform that men face (even their own husbands in most cases), that they viewed the comfort and leisure that defined their pampered everyday existence as oppressive and burdensome. It would be bad enough if they were just blind to what men do on behalf of women, but these harpies actually viewed their luxuries and Saturday brunches and free time as oppressive in their own right. Any movement that would use the term "comfortable concentration camp" to describe a four-bedroom house in the Hamptons with a maid and a nanny - within 20 years of men liberating real concentration camps in Europe and Asia - cannot be taken seriously.
When they had all the time in the world they complained that they were bored and unfulfilled, and turned the world upside down with their demands to be given "useful" things to do like men. Of course they didn't realize that the reason men do useful things is because (in the words of "Judgy Bitch" Alison Tieman), women have the privilege of being Human Beings, while men have to earn their place by being Human Doings.
So... the daughters and granddaughters of those rich whiners had to go out into the workplace and put in a few hours doing the "liberating" work of shuffling papers and making widgets on assembly lines rather than lounging at home reading to the kids and sipping a mimosa while the washing machine cleaned the laundry. And even though women don't do nearly as much actual work as men do (which is the real reason behind the "wage gap"), they're miserable about that, too. They discovered that their bosses - and the marketplace - assign a much higher priority to a person's ability to turn a profit than to ensuring that the work helps them to give "meaning" to their lives.
Now... if today's women want to go back to their Saturday brunches and Thursday afternoon bridge clubs while their husbands bring home the bacon, they're welcome to, but that means giving up all the privileges and powers they gained because their grandmothers tossed all that away. I'm sure there are more than enough Good MenTM who would sign up to be Ward Cleaver if they could be assured of getting June Cleaver in return, but what feminism has taught us is that even though most women (eventually) want the security that June Cleaver had, they insist on being allowed to be the town bicycle until they hit the Epiphany Phase... of course, those two demands are mutually contradictory.
Personally, I think everyone ought to grow-the-hell-up, but given the world in which we live I would be okay with having a two-tier system of rights and responsibilities. Sometime around the time they reach majority women could choose between one of two options: equality or pedestal, but whichever option they choose, they get ALL OF IT: not the best bits of both like they do now. Hey, we can let men have a similar option: "Man" or "Guy/Bloke."
Those choices are not of equal value, but I suspect that the mating market would sort it out fairly quickly, since the only way to get a quality partner would be to offer what quality members of the opposite sex demand. Of course that would result in men bearing most of the burdens and making most of the sacrifices, but let's face it, advanced civilization can't work any other way - it's not like women can do it. Unlike the situation now at least men would get something in return.

Can confirm: I'm a professional subject matter expert (SME) in a subject that has a significant ongoing demand. It really is true that "If you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life."
There are some downsides to it (sometimes there are breaks between gigs and you have to be prepared for that), but honestly, if I didn't have bills to pay I would volunteer to do what I do for free. It's like a license to print money.

I'd rather not go into great detail because I'm paranoid about my privacy, so I'll just say that I use the knowledge I picked up during my military career.
That's one of the drawbacks of this life-path: the significant rewards you receive later in life from possessing these skills has to be paid for on the front end spending years acquiring them. I don't look back on my military time with much regret, but I'd be lying if I said that the path to mastery itself was easy or without significant risk.

I'm from a different generation than almost everyone here, and the world I grew up in operated under a different set of rules, so it doesn't make sense to apply <current year> thinking to the path I took. My die was cast a long time ago, and I'm committed to riding it out (it's not like a really have a choice - and I'm happy with where I am). You'd have to dig through my post history to see where I'm coming from, but if you do it will make more sense.
I would not recommend that men today do what I did. Even though the odds were better then, I realize that I was extremely lucky... and the situation is far worse now. I don't envy younger guys.
