To answer your title: NO, it's not a good idea.

However, I think it would be even more unhealthy to deprive yourself of something you desire, especially sex and affection.

In the end, MGTOW is about doing what you want and making yourself happy. If that means finding a girlfriend then that is what you need. The only exception is getting married (because when you are married, you really aren't working for YOUR OWN happiness anymore but moreso hers) and try to avoid unplanned pregnancies.

The only thing you have to be aware of is that she is going to try to use your money, trap you with marriage or a baby, and she will also assert her dominance over you by turning you into her servant. If you see any red flags, dump her and put your own safety first.

Aside from that, there's no reason why you shouldn't pursue a relationship. Just be aware, relationships only end 2 ways: either with a breakup or a marriage. The first option is better and safer than the second option.

What I will tell you now is nothing but truth.

First thing to get your head around is looks are far more subjective that what they appear to be. To quantify this statement, I'll give you 2 examples:

Example 1: When I was a kid I moved schools a lot. Once I found myself in a new school I would always survey the scene, learn who is who in the zoo. In my mind I had a ranking scale of chicks. One chick for example I rated a 5 at best. Yet what I didn't know was her social standing. After around 6 months my estimation of her had risen to a solid 8. She was now in my mind in the top 3 girls in my year. How is this possible? Was it playing into the way others perceived her? I'm sure her legs were ok, but not as nice as I imagined them.

Example 2:

When I met my wife, she actually hated the way I looked. She later told me she thought I looked like a vampire. And yet prior to meeting her the girlfriend I had before her used to call me "Male Beauty". I've also been propositioned for a 3 some. One girl has called me the perfect male specimen, and another girl asked me if I wanted to fuck her. Yet according to my wife - I was no looker. Moral of the story - It isn't just bullshit. Looks and attraction aren't universal. Sure there are universal standards, but it's possible to manipulate these rules.

It's the same thing when you start lifting. Minor changes to you, cause big changes in how you are perceived. Even something like an improved posture goes a long way, even if you didn't get any additional definition.

It's as you put it, there is something about those guys who are getting women, and I just don't think it's pure confidence. It's primarily desire, and then formulating a plan, a mid to long term plan to adjust your strategy.

Ultimately though it just takes experience. After enough of it you know what you can and can't say. You become steady, you know how do keep shit smooth and moving, and know how to read situations and women. No one expects you to have this information upfront.

So go out on a few dates, and get some experience.

When I was in school, this skater buddy and I would go out and shoot pool. We would see the popular girls with their nice skirts hanging out with some jocks. We would just keep coming back and playing never approaching girls. We had our eyes on the top chicks and yet they didn't even know we existed. We would walk home with stupid bullshit talk about how close we got to saying something really it was pathetic. Then one day this friend says, you know what fuck this shit... We should just get any girls we can take. Doesn't matter what they look like - Just anything. After this we can upgrade. The idea seemed good in theory, so that's exactly what we did. And no, we didn't just pick the 2 closest fatties. We did approach girls who might be considered "losers" or less popular. Sidelined chicks. We didn't get to fuck any of them either, but it was the start. A rather shitty start, but the start nevertheless.

Expect rejection, expect girls to laugh at you. Expect to be bitchily blanked off. Expect them to grimace at you, make you feel like you really are some pathetic loser.

But you know - also expect girls to like you. To see you for who you are. To want to spend time with you.

Last thing I will tell you is, everything I said is level 1. Go out on a few actual dates, go through the motions of trying things out. See what you like or dislike about the experiences. So you can know yourself better and ultimately know what you want / don't want.

Good stuff keep doing that. But don't do it just for women, because they will ruin you and you will lose everything good you have going for you. If you aren't a chad, you will be attractive to women because of all these good things that are happening to you. Would it be smarter for me and other guys who have similar problems to just keep improving and get/find a fuckbuddy instead of a girlfriend ?

So this part is less likely but significantly more risky: If you get her pregnant, your life is over. Just think about that for a second. Your money, your health, you peace of mind, your hobbies and friends, ability to pay back your parents will all vanish withing a few months. Unless you're getting a vasectomy, that's a pretty large risk for very little reward. On top of that your child's life will be miserable.
