Of course.
But not a 30+ whore.
[–]datdude20147 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. We're not talking certified pre-owned here, those are fine.

Never buy a former fleet vehicle(police, taxi, rental, service vehicle etc).
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I bought an fleet car from the Oklahoma government for 9k. A 2016 jetta that had 31k miles. All records kept. the car had some minor hail damage but otherwise it's been great.
Fleet vehicles are maintained with oil changes and driven regularly. Private cars usually just sit more and have more problems.
[–]AmbulanceDriver34 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Fleet cars are also used by people that couldn't care less about them. Not universally, but frequently. Maybe the company keeps up with the maintenance, maybe they don't, but either way a fleet car is usually a risky gamble.

Ive worked at 3 major corporations, ones that all of us have heard about. I assure you most fleets are NOT well maintained.

Jettas are super reliable especially the the new 1.4T You're a fucking idiot non-mechanic.

Completely agree, though my old boss did find a fucking gem at an auction, like a 1 in 100,000 chance.
Government body supervisor driven Caravan with about 120,000km on it. Bought it for a few grand, put an extra grand in maintenance in it. Great for carpentry work, no need to buy a cap for a truck and you can pack it full. And he also drives like 200km one way each day to work and it's lasted him 5 years and counting with about $500 a year in maintenance.
It's like trying to find a unicorn, it's not going to happen. He really just got lucky.

In the immortal words of Jeff Foxworthy:
"Buying a used rental car is like marrying a woman from a house of ill-repute, anything that has been ridden that hard by that many people, I just don't wanna stick my key into!"
[–]datdude20140 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly!
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I would. Most fleet vehicles have been maintained and given oil changes at regular intervals and driven regularly. it's the privately owned cars that just sit are problems.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. Private vehicles are a toss of the coin. Cars like mine have full maintenance records, while i know chicks who never change their oil
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
People don't get that. A car needs to be driven everyday. I also know people who I have to remind to get oil changes who otherwise would forget. Those cars are the ones that get traded in as certified pre owned without an oil change in over a year. Yeahh no thanks.
My friends who work at dealers say theyve seen Honda accords come in that havent had service in 25k miles, black as fuck oil dumb owners who cant understand why the new car runs bad.
[–]DIXIE_WEHRWOLF0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well you should never buy a car from a woman or a teenager. That's just stupid.
[–]DWShimoda1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cars don't get infected with STD's.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Actually i would probably get a rental car. They at least have all the oil changes done and most people don't really abuse them unless they are a sports car.
[–]Hirudin1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't think that comparison works here.
A better one would be, would you buy a used car for full price?
Also the car was given away for free to every previous owner.
Also if someone else wants the car from you then they can legally just jump in and drive away with it.
...
There isn't a real life equivalent for marriage in the car market.

Used RENTAL CARS ROCK!
Actually, I bought a USED rental car 13 years ago with 10k+ miles on it. I'm still driving it today.
See, a Rental Car dealership, is different from a women's home and upbringing.
Rental places have a VESTED INTEREST in getting someone to RENT their cars,
So THEY TAKE CARE OF THEM.
They FIX what is wrong, EVERYTIME. MAINTAIN them Well, because, well they CAN'T MAKE ANY MONEY RENTING a car people won't rent because it won't WORK RIGHT or stops working while their driving it. so BAM, regular GOOD maintenance.
So See, unlike the women. Used RENTAL car dealerships FIX THEIR INVENTORY so they are able to USE IT TO MAKE MONEY and later on, MOVE IT.
Women Receive Zero correction, Refuse all Maintenance, Run from all repairs.
Unlike Rental Cards, If Woman is fixed and maintained, she goes off and tries to Break herself or get herself broken!
That's something your rental car won't do!
Rental Car places do the upkeep every week/month/rental, SO THAT THE CUSTOMER DOESN'T EVER RETURN IT early AND THEY HAVE TO LOSE MONEY GIVING THEM A DIFFERENT CAR.
I have NEVER driven a rental car that was a piece of shit and died on me or acted funny.
It may be park-stopped, neutral-slammed, run through all the gears, but SOMEBODY took it back to the lot it belonged to and PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AFTER ALL THAT. BACK INTO WORKING CONDITION BEFORE THE NEXT GUY GOT IT.
UNLIKE WOMEN.
Women are broke, they ain't trying to be fixed.
Women are A CAR THAT WILLFULLY DRIVES AWAY FULL SPEED FROM ANY and ALL MAINTENANCE.
Repairs that actually fix the problem? = OPPRESSION!
Now you got a woman who is a 30+ year old Ferrari with flat tires who never got em fixed after the first ones wore down and has been RIDING ON THE RIMS for 10 years till those broke and is now SCRAPING HER BELLY ON THE PAVEMENT EVERYWHERE SHE DRIVES - Still Refusing all Repairs and THINKING SHE'S STILL THE HOTTEST CAR ON THE ROAD THAT EVERYBODY WANTS.
You CAN'T.
So far in my life
Used Rental Cars = 13 years (And going strong)
Women = 3 years (and plenty shorter with tons of horror)
ALSO The aftermath
After 13 years with a woman = financial ruin
After 13 years with a rental = hmm? what luxury car can I buy next? IVE GOT CASH!
So, please don't diss my love of Used rental cars by comparing them to women.
I'm probably going to buy another used rent a car that will last another 13 years,
not cause it hasn't been "knocked around",
But because it wont refuse repairs or RUN OFF and undo its maintenance and repairs while I'm asleep.
Thanks!

There are some really nice and old cars, they have all been used. Porsche 550 for example. I would prefer a used car of that type to any new car.
That being said, I would neither marry the town slut nor the christian "nawalt" virgin mary and also not anything in between, because I'm already married to my freedom, until death.
I am not going to lock down some used up woman with underlying irreparable damages. She's going to let you down sooner than later.
Lol, and you think a "nawalt" virgin girl wouldn't? She could destroy you harder than anybody else. I know such a case. I'd even say that for a free man this type is the most dangerous since they trigger the nawalt thinking and may put you in the plantation for good.
MGTOW means independence from any type of women.

Rental, not used
[–]ProgrammaticallyMeal-2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Porsche 550 is quite old, you often cannot really tell if it was being used as a rental car or not, at some point of its history. You'd have to assess its state based on other things.

I abuse rental vehicles, so I would never buy one. Kind of like marrying a used girl...
Fleet vehicles are different. I bought a 2015 Dodge Charger from a police department, with 89k miles for $9k. It's just a fun car. It's not luxury, but it's fast and I won't hurt a lot if I tear it up. Would not trust it as a daily driver though.
