So, I was told about this sub by a friend who y'all refer to as a pickme. She made it seem like you all are man eating monsters, so obviously interested, I browsed through only to find women with self respect. Sad. But I read posts made by recovering pickmes who divorced husbands, broke up with long term boyfriends and I genuinely couldn't believe that society and these leeches made wonderful women lose all sense of self worth.

I grew up in a very progressive household despite being desi. My culture is notorious for being patriarchal, but I think I'd take that over the 'sex=empowering' curse in the west any day. My ma always told me my body was sacred, that I could expect nothing but the best. I'm a successful lawyer in London with a degree from Cambridge, but even when I was not neither of my parents told me to give anyone a chance. I was always taught that nothing but my own self would complete me, and I wasn't in the wrong for expecting it all. My aunt once told me, see what he adds to your life. If it can be replaced by some money and your own hands (a euphemism for masturbation, dear God) then you don't need him around.

Now, I'm lot of men look at me as pass the shitty 'not like all those dirty sluts' compliments and use the term 'wife material' and they're so surprised to know that my parents taught me to respect myself, that my culture and mannerisms and dressing sense don't mean I'm your dream tradwife.

So, ladies: if every man with a sagging ballsack has the right to think that he's a king, you wonderful women can surely realise your value. My parents raised me like this, and I'm so sorry society failed you in this aspect. I'm proud of each and every recovering pickme, and I truly hope that the lessons of this haven stick with you.
