Never actually had an older brother type figure, someone who could tell me what's actually good or bad, someone who could be older or just technically older by experience. To think of it, my father wasn't really even in my life. I'm also the eldest in the family.

The friends I have are pretty blue, and I often have to be the one to come up with plans. I feel like a deflated balloon trying to advice to my friends though, nothing to teach because I've got nothing to gain from and hanging out with them makes me feel like I don't really learn.

The only time I felt some kind of close camaraderie-affection-type was with a coworker, he was in a sense, an older brother who didn't give a damn while I was some green nervous wreck, and he actually was the one who didn't judge me too.

It's interesting...

I do wonder of role models to look up to, someone I could actually speak with besides forums or boards, bro's to look up to or even just mentors... Maybe the question is: Are we missing out on anything, like major personal development, by not having an older brother type in the support system? I always found myself to be the starter, I don't want to call myself a figure to learn from (older bro type) because I still feel like learning from anyone.

The answer is probably just to keep my ears open and take advice, but filter them from good to bad. Take advice even from someone who is younger... (I hate the stigma that a younger person is teaching me things though) and I'm growing older everyday. An older figure could probably help with cutting down the time it takes to become the next step (b) rather than taking all the time to learn from yourself
