Ego to be defined is; a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance.

Throughout history, victors in war, or Royalty, or the wealthy, had always portrayed their ego in different forms. Some would shout it from the roof tops, some would buy gold to show off, or some would just flat out tell you "I'm the best" to your face.

Yet in 2013, we find ourselves in a world, where everyone has an ego. Part of the reason I have deleted Facebook, was the ego's of the young women and perhaps men on there, is embarassing. Girls half naked in bikini's on holiday. These are the same girls who have their mums and dads as friends on facebook by the way. Imagine you were the father of a pretty young thing is in a thong showing it off to loads of men liking, commenting and drooling over his daughter.

Does he care? Or does he realize that in fact, he was the problem to begin with. And his wife. By instilling into his daughters brain "you are the best, you deserve the best, don't come home with a bum, don't slack about, you are the best, the best the best the best."

Then we also find the male versions of these. Men with no prospects, or perhaps young men still in school, posing taking selfies, or whatever that self portrait thing is, and showing it off saying "too cool, for school." Or writing statuses on twitter saying how "Gettin' smashed livin large, as we do. #thug life."

These too are the children of parents, who have filled their child's head with false flattery. "You are the best," etc etc etc. It becomes almost part of these arseholes DNA.

Suddenly like sheep, the entire population are following the latest trend. "Having an ego." So fat girls are talking about how cool they are. Loser guys think they are the shit. Causing quite possibly the biggest shit storms on todays society.

With social media, everyone now has an opinion. With smart phones, everyone is posing. Some pose for themselves. Think about that, they are trying to impress themselves, with a self portrait. I know, its tough to comprehend.

Where does it stop. It transcends into real life. Real life interactions. Real life situations too. People because they want to feel better about themselves thrive off an ego, they've never had.

However, if we look at the definition again; "a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance." Well, the buck ofcourse stops with you, but perhaps its more so based on possessions.

If you drive a Ferarri, you're ego would be huge. If you suddenly got that promotion, thats a trigger. You banged a 9 or a 10. Usual stuff.

I've come to understand those with ego's are in fact, in my opinion, role models. They know they are the best, and they don't mind showing it off. But there's different ways to do so. Not necessarily, by telling you to your face, but showing it.

I would be inspired by greatness and achievement. Yet lesser folk and more self conscious people look to these egomaniacs who believe in themselves, and worship them.

When I say those with ego's I don't mean the kid who's 16 who has a 6 pack of skin and bones, and I don't mean the guy who believes he's better then everyone when he clearly isn't. I'm talking about the people who take on the world and win. The underdogs, the one's who you'd never expect to come out victorious.

This isn't about that, this is about self-importance, and self-esteem. If I worked my ass off for a nice car, then I would be a happy bunny, rather then the kid who gets one from his parents and thinks he's the shit. Or the person who walks into a job rather then the person who struggles with their own business to no prevail.

My point is the Ego, is out of control. It has been taken, and put into a different perspective. It has and will damage society further.

But if you are someone who wants to be successful in all walks of life, you walk tall, you look good, you struggled and are now doing well, or you believe in you, and you alone, well, you may have an ego, but tell you what, you should wear it proud. Because those who don't like it, or try to challenge it, in my opinion, have a case of the green eyed monster syndrome.
