In general when friends push boundaries with me i follow the rule of 3. Generally i try things 3 times before the friendship changes, this can be anything from asking a friend to socialise on 3 separate occasions, if they deny it every time then i stop even asking them and leave it to them to come to me.

Recently i have a friend, i sort of feel sorry for him, he plays the nice guy and whenever a girl talks to him he gets all close to them and spills everything he knows, He did it once at the start of the friendship and told people something i purposefully made him think was a secret, ofcourse since modern friend circles have no privacy it gets back to me immediately and i not so much punish him but rather explain to him that this is his 1st strike and i dont appreciate him running his mouth.

He kept quiet for a while but then relapsed and did the same thing, is it harsh of me to cut someone who cant follow the rules out of my life? The rules arent exactly harsh and require only loyalty from friends, Basically dont run your mouth about things we discuss unless told otherwise, dont be an arse and finally dont start drama.

For the record im 20 years old and generally am a nice guy from my own POV except i do live by rules and expect people who are in my life to stick to atleast the basics.

am i being anal about this or am i just following my instinct (which led me to make these boundaries)
